The Iowa City Arts Review was established to provide a forum for serious discussion of the arts in Iowa City, with the possibility of expanding coverage to the broader Iowa community. Initially begun as an art criticism blog, the Review intends to expand coverage to literary and music events as well. Reviews focus on unearthing the deeper questions raised by the art being reviewed, seeking to plac
e the work within a broader spectrum of human concerns rather than a more narrow consideration of stylistic trends or developments. The mission of the Review is to question the work under consideration, considering the ways that it opens up human experience to greater insight, deeper perception and human growth. The Iowa City Arts Review welcomes submissions of 1000-2000 word reviews (or previews) of art shows and events in the Iowa City area. Please submit reviews within the body of an email to iowacityartsreview@gmail
All arts organizations are encouraged to submit press releases regarding upcoming events to iowacityartsreview@gmail. The Iowa City Arts Review was co-created by Heidi Wiren Bartlett and Brian Prugh, with special thanks due to David Dunlap for his support of the project.
