Fun fact, instead of saying “cheese” during pictures we yelled ”Cris” and then a double rainbow appeared.

The Muscatine Boys Soccer team would like to invite the Muscatine Community to come to their next home game on Monday, May 8th vs Clinton at 6 pm at the Muscatine Soccer Complex as they will be honoring Cris Martinez. Wear yellow to support the team!

They will be presenting Cris’s family with flowers, a jersey and will hold a moment of silence before the game.

Cris, who was beloved by his teammates and coaches, will be remembered for his contributions to the team and his positive attitude both on and off the field.

Cris has finally been laid to rest. 💛🕊️🙏

We sincerely appreciate all the support, love, kindness, and messages we’ve recieved throughout this unfortunate event.

We are very thankful for our amazing community who came together in our time of need to help lift our spirits and help in everyway possible.

Visitation for Cristian 'Cris' Martinez, 20, of Muscatine, will be today, April 27, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. There will be a Rosary Service following visitation at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 28, at the Saint Mary Mathias Catholic Church. Father Marco Rodríguez will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the family.

We will be adding another part to the cruise, @7 we are working with MPW to get the bridge lights changed and have a candlight light show in front of the bridge, stay tuned as we are still working on getting things set in place and finalized.

Due to the candle show we moved the meetup time from 2pm to 4:30pm, cruise at 5pm and vigil at 7pm.

The Johnson County Medical Examiner's Office has positively identified the body recovered from the Iowa River on Saturday, April 22, 2023, as Cristian Martinez. Martinez's cause of death remains under investigation and is pending results from an autopsy.

No other information is available at this time.

It is with the heaviest heart that we share, Cris has been found but unfortunately has joined our loved ones in heaven.
