We’re excited to share a recent project that we had the pleasure of working on for Holiday World & Splashin' Safari 2024 campaign of their new Good Gravy! roller coaster. Partnering with our friends at Williams Randall Advertising, Ben Ericsen helped transform a classic, Thanksgiving song into a pop-punk hit with ride-themed lyrics. We connected them with Carmel, Indiana’s School of Rock to find the perfect 12-year old singer. The result? An energetic song featured in the Good Gravy! TV spots. We are thrilled to have played a part in this creative journey and to bring such a vibrant track to life.

Not only can we provide you with world class audio production, our team of voice actors are vetted, professional, and understand how to take direction and work with producers. Unlike the unwieldy, online talent sites who will accept anyone who pays for a roster spot, we're cautious about who we include on our team in an effort to provide only the best voice actors available. A few years ago, filmmaker Rob Moniot conducted a worldwide search for an early 1900’s ice cream parlor to set the scene for his new short movie, The Ice Cream Man. Based on actual events, the story takes place shortly after the N**i invasion of the Netherlands, when a popular Jewish ice cream parlor owner, Ernst Cahn, played by Noah Emmerich, finds himself targeted by the infamous “Butcher of Lyon,” Klaus Barbie. As his world crumbles, Ernst must choose between resistance and death; a choice that will reverberate throughout the country.

While the film is set in Amsterdam, Rob's search for an ice cream parlor from this time period came up empty. He then scouted ice cream shops in New York and L.A., but still no luck. So, he turned to a Google search and discovered the ideal setting: Zaharakos Ice Cream Parlor in Columbus, Indiana. Rob had never been to Indiana, so he reached out to Indianapolis based producer Greg Malone to assist with scouting and production efforts here in Indiana. Zaharakos was secured as a shooting location, and several key scenes were shot there.

An important piece of the production puzzle was audio post-production. Greg reached out to Earshot with the opportunity for us to provide sound design, dialogue editing, and the final mix. Brice Bowman and Haley Morkert began working on sound design elements, while Rick Such cleaned and leveled the location dialogue and also provided the final stereo mix - just in time for the film’s debut at the Indy Shorts Festival. The premier and an encore showing were both sellouts, and won the Indiana Spotlight Audience Choice award. The Ice Cream Man is slated to appear in upcoming film festivals in hopes of garnering an Academy Award nomination.

In 2021 and 2022, Earshot's Brice Bowman joined NBC's Olympics crew to provide audio mixing for dozens of features for the 2021 Summer Olympics in Tokyo and the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing. NBC again tapped Brice to join their crew for this summer's Paris Olympics. Every day during the Olympics, he began a shift that started at 4:00 PM and ended at 2:00 AM. During this time, athlete and sponsorship features were sent to him, and once he delivered the final mix, some would go on the air to a national audience almost immediately. So, while you were cheering on the USA while watching NBC or any of their partner networks covering the summer games, you most likely heard Brice's work that was produced right here at Earshot.

Royal Caribbean’s “Making An Icon” - Episode 14.

It’s showtime on Royal Caribbean International’s Icon of the Seas. “Making an Icon: Creating Show-Stopping Entertainment” pulls back the curtain on what it takes to bring to life full-scale productions across four stages – air, ice, water and theater – live music from every genre, and activities for all ages in one vacation. The experts show and tell the details about the process, from designing the venues to casting and rehearsing with skateboarders, high divers and even the first cast of “The Wizard of Oz” at sea. More than five years in the making, the playbill of entertainment on the first-of-its-kind combination of every vacation is a show-stopping lineup for everyone.

A few years ago, the phone rang at the studio and the voice on the other line introduced himself as Pat, and he explained that he needed some assistance with mixing the first episode of a new reality show he was creating for Barstool Sports. Earshot's Rick Such spoke to him for a while about the project, but he had no clue who he was speaking to. When the files were delivered and Rick began importing them into Pro Tools, he then became aware that the 'Pat' that he chatted with was none other than Pat McAfee. This initial episode was a challenge to mix, as there was a lot of noise and interference that needed cleaned-up, along with audio elements from various mic sources. With a lot of balancing, noise reduction, and finessing, the audio mix turned out really well.

In this episode, Pat joins a minor league baseball team, trains for a day, and then actually plays in the game. Pat had never played a day of baseball in his life, so see for yourself how this experience pans out for him.

Warning: There's quite a bit of explicit language, as you might imagine, but the show itself is a ton of fun.

Indianapolis advertising friends: The Indy Ad Connect Fall Social is next Thursday, November at The District Tap at Keystone and the Crossing on 82nd Street. We're pleased to welcome Haley Morkert to our team! Originally from Washington state, Haley left her hometown to pursue her education at Butler University. She graduated in 2023 with a Bachelor of Arts in Music Industry Studies, Creative Media and Entertainment, and Web Design and Development. During her Senior year, she began her internship at Earshot Audio-Post to further her knowledge of audio engineering, recording, sound design, and mixing. We were so impressed with Haley's engineering and people skills, added to the fact that she makes the most delicious zucchini cake we've ever experienced, that we just couldn't let her go. Haley will engineer sessions with us starting on a part time basis, so be sure to say hello the next time you're here for a session.

In an effort to help spread the word and reconnect the Indy Ad community, we'd like to introduce Indy Ad Connect (IAC), a collective effort among a small group of Indy advertising professionals who hope to create a vibrant, inclusive, and diverse community that connects and engages individuals within the advertising industry. Like the name suggests, Indy Ad Connect is ultimately about helping ad pros make or rekindle face-to-face connections with colleagues.

With that, the IAC would like to invite you to their debut event at The Hangar (by The HandleBar) on Thursday, August 17th at 4:00 PM. There are no dues, no fees, no frills. The only cost to you is your time and bar bill, but the hope is that your experience in this casual setting will be worth it. Joining you will be the IAC committee leaders, who will act as catalysts for helping make connections among those in attendance.

So come around 4:00 PM, settle in, grab a drink from the bar and mingle. The IAC committee leaders will say a few words at 5:00 PM to introduce themselves to guests and share their vision for connection. Afterwards, there will even be an opportunity to take a free ride on one of the The HandleBars with some of your ad connections around the Circle and back. But no worries if you don't want to... you are welcome to stay at The Hangar and socialize for as long as you'd like.

IAC's goal is to help advertising professionals make or re-kindle connections with other ad professionals with the goal of hosting quarterly events to keep these connections alive and growing. Also, feel free to invite a +1. Surely, we all know someone who may be new to the ad industry or could benefit by expanding their network. Let's help each other out in a positive way.
