Five Random Facts for Friday from the Smiley Morning Show:

1. The first-EVER text message was sent on December 3rd, 1992 . . . it said "Merry Christmas."

2. There are more than 100,000 Americans who have full- or part-time jobs in the Christmas tree industry.

3. Jon Bon Jovi's first professional recording job was singing the lead vocals on a song called "R2-D2 We Wish You a Merry Christmas" on a "Star Wars" Christmas album in 1980.

4. "The Twelve Days of Christmas" STARTS on Christmas Day, and ends on January 5th.

5. If you plan to tip your mailman or mailwoman around Christmastime, USPS workers are allowed to accept gifts as long as they cost $20 or less. There's no official policy for UPS, but they're discouraged from accepting anything.

FedEx employees can accept gifts valued at $75 or less . . . but they cannot accept cash or gift cards. Amazon drivers are allowed to accept tips, though it's not expected.

If you're a really generous person, you could also choose to tip your grocery delivery person . . . your newspaper delivery person, if you still get a paper . . . and your garbage collector. A reasonable tip for them could be $10, up to $30.

Five Gifts You Can Buy at the Last-Minute Besides Gift Cards

It's December 20th, which means you've got less than FIVE DAYS to pick up any last-minute gifts. Gift cards are always a reliable standby, but here are five other ideas that are just as easy, but even more meaningful . . .

1. A digital product. Like an online course, a streaming subscription, or even a video game.

2. An "experience." Buy concert tickets, tickets to a football game, a vacation, or any other future event. Then give the person a printout of the tickets in a card.

3. Cryptocurrency. Bitcoin is hitting all-time highs right now, and new memecoins are always coming out. (Fartcoin is especially popular right now.)

4. A homemade coupon. Like taking them to their favorite bar and getting the first round or cooking them dinner from scratch.

5. Photos of you together. If you've got some great photos together on your phone, print them out and put them in a nice frame for them.

You're not out of time to get a great gift, just grab a digital gift card or subscription. Not only will they get it instantly, but you can avoid the already-crowded stores. These last-minute gifts are some of our editors' favorites.
