We won the Audience Award at Naples International Film Festival. Robert Moniot, you the man! Especially gratifying because this was not the home town crowd and there were 33 other shorts screening...and there were a lot of super strong entries.

The Ice Cream Man is screening in Columbus, Indiana at the YES Cinema two shows a day Monday-Wednesday this coming week, October 28-30. A great chance to see it on a great screen with great sound...this is a state of the art theater.

The journey of The Ice Cream Man continues: Our Academy Award qualifying run starts Friday, September 13 at the Laemmle Monica Film Center in Santa Monica, through Thursday, September 19. We'll be playing in a block of other shorts each evening, time TBD, 7 pm or later. Rob and I will be there for at least the first few nights. To all of our friends in LA, please join us, come see what so many folks have been working on for so long! Tickets will be on sale on the Laemmle website a week or so before. Martin Mull has passed away, and in the New York Time his daughter is quoted that he did Red Roof Inn commercials and, I believe that the first one he did was with my mentor and great friend Craig Somers at Somers Films (or was it Somers & Somers in those days?). We filmed in Atlanta, if memory serves, and we all, including Mr. Mull, stayed at a Red Roof. The manager was so freaking excited...he put a gift basket in Martin's room that included two, maybe three, kinds of spray cheese and crackers. OMG...what a freaking memory. RIP, Martin!

While lots of people I know were at the Indy 500, I was on set in Amsterdam with director Rob Moniot. The Ice Cream Man is coming soon! When I started this way over a year ago, I thought we were making a little movie that would be done pretty quick. It has turned into an epic...which is what Rob always envisioned and most of us didn't believe was possible.
