The Idaho Falls Police Department and Bonneville County Sheriff's Office are introducing the Public Safety Incident Map, a new interactive tool that will give community members more information about crime and law enforcement incidents in our community. The Public Safety Incident Map displays past law enforcement incidents in Idaho Falls and Bonneville County, including the type of incident, the date and time, the incident number, the block address of the call.

“People want to know what police officers are doing and what is happening in their neighborhoods,” says Idaho Falls Police Chief Bryce Johnson. “This is intended to be a simple way for people to have information at their fingertips and to increase awareness of what is going on around them.”

How to Access and Use the Public Safety Incident Map:
The Public Safety Incident Map is available on the respective Idaho Falls Police Department and Bonneville County Sheriff’s Office websites.
• IdahoFallsPolice.com ➡️ Information ➡️ Public Safety Incident Map
• BonnevilleSheriff.com ➡️ Resources ➡️ Public Safety Incident Map

Community members can utilize the interactive features to view information across the city and county, or can search for incidents in specific areas, such as their neighborhood. Incidents can be viewed within specific time frames and also by incident type.

To protect the privacy of people involved, victims of crime, and sensitive investigations, certain call types and detailed information are excluded from the Public Safety Incident Map. The map automatically updates every 15 minutes, with a 72-hour delay, which is also in place to protect victims, sensitive investigations, and public safety professionals.

“We are fortunate to live where people watch out for each other and have an interest in the safety of our community,” says Bonneville County Sheriff Sam Hulse. “Keeping citizens informed and being transparent improves the partnership between law enforcement and our community”.

To stay informed about law enforcement incidents in Idaho Falls and Bonneville County, IFPD and BCSO encourage community members to seek information from reputable sources of information, including directly from each agency. IFPD and BCSO each engage in various social media platforms, and other outreach tools to provide information to and engage with our community.

With the ongoing potential for flooding from melting snow across the area, the City of Idaho Falls is providing free sand at designated locations for residents to fill their own sandbags. This effort aims to help homeowners and businesses protect their properties.

Thankfully, Idaho Falls doesn't experience as many flooding events as some areas, but if/when we do, we want to make people aware of where to get sandbags and sand.

Sandbags can be purchased at local home improvement stores. Idaho Falls Parks & Recreation has made Sandy Downs available for the sand. The easiest place to get the sand is towards the main sand dune.

You'll go into the second entrance (east of the main entrance) to Sandy Downs. Turn into the sand dune access gate and collect the sand from the main sand dune. There is also a pile along the west side of the main access road.

We are excited to work with our good friends at Homestead Pizza and Bowling. Who are helping us raise money that will go towards our Emerging Leaders Program.

The Emerging Leaders is a 2 Year program for Sophomore to Senior students who wish to experience and learn from our leading figures in the area. The skills they learn will help shape them to become great leaders within their homes and future places of work.

We often hear from folks who are worried about the next generation, well, that’s part of the reason why we started it. So, come down to Homestead Pizza and Bowling by doing so you’re investing in our future generation of community leaders!
