Look what just washed up!

Here’s my version of the oxygen destroyer. I have never seen someone do a replica that looked like it had spent time in the ocean… all of them are shiny and new. So I decided to make a weathered and rusted version that looks like it has spent 70 years underwater.

Like all of my creations it’s not exactly screen accurate. I couldn’t get any plastic or glass to fit inside so I just imagine that it eroded away with time. It’s nice having it not be screen accurate… makes it uniquely mine.

1 foam ball
1 aluminum foil roll
2 medicine bottle caps
1 plastic funnel
1 plastic baby bottle cap
1 plastic bowl
2 plastic bucket lids
1 disinfectant wipes container
1 multigrain cracker box
1 oxygen gauge
Wooden dowels
EVA foam
Lots of glue

I finally finished the paint job on 2 of my sculptures!

I’m proud of how both turned out but Biollante’s rose form is definitely my favorite. I’m chuffed to bits!

While waiting for supplies to build my own oxygen destroyer (will share when that’s done)… I decided to make a sculpture of Mothra out of polymer clay and EVA foam.

Since Mothra has changed over the different movies I decided to kind of make my own version instead of being exactly screen accurate. I still have to paint it, but I’m lazy and don’t feel like doing it 😅😅.

This is only my second ever sculpture, the first was a graboid from Tremors.

Kong’s Battle Axe made from scratch for my mental health. I tried to keep it to scale. It’s not 100% movie accurate, but I still love it!

I’m very sad to hear of the passing of Roger Corman. I always wanted to have a piece written in KRM about him for his contributions to the industry, his work bringing foreign films to American audiences, and his help in keeping monster movies alive in the modern cinema landscape.

No Kaiju fan (or film fan) in the US can call themselves a fan without recognizing the impact Roger Corman had.

Look what I just found buried in a box in my closet.

That’s 2 (YES 2!!!) misprinted copies of Kaiju Ramen Vol 1 with cover art by Matt Frank.

These I’m selling for $30 each, with free shipping in the US (outside US I will have to add shipping cost).

The misprinting is only for the cover. It was placed on the books upside down. Everything is completely readable, you’d just need to flip it over to read it.

I just dropped the last packages off at the Post Office. Everyone who ordered issue 10, our final issue, should be getting it in the mail soon.

Thank you all for your patience. I hope you all will see that beautiful holo cover by our friend Mars and feel like it was worth the wait.

I want to give a HUGE shoutout to all the creators and writers who contributed to this issue, including:

This issue has been a labor of love. A lot of blood, sweat, and tears went into this issue and the magazine as a whole. It’s been a long journey, and now that it’s ending I hope everyone will come away knowing that Kaiju Ramen was a force for good in the giant monster community.

They have arrived! (I forgot to change the print date on the cover… guess that shows how late these are). It’s hard to tell in photos but the holo covers look fantastic! I’m so happy to have these physically in hand.

If you ordered a copy of this issue, double check and make sure your shipping address hasn’t changed. I will be sending copies out starting early next week to give everyone time to update their address if they need to.

I just approved the final proof that our printer sent over.

It’s happening… after what has been an eternity of waiting the books are being printed!

Cannot tell you how relieved i’m feeling right now, and will feel even more relieved when it’s done. It won’t be much longer.

By now many of you have heard the news. Whether you’ve seen it on social media or heard the rumors whispered in the background:

Kaiju Ramen is going away. Issue 10 is our final issue. I know a lot of people have questions so I will try and answer a few.

Why have we been so quiet about this decision, and why has it taken so long to officially announce?

Well, to be honest it has been hard on all of us emotionally to say goodbye to something that we worked so hard on. We aren’t just saying goodbye to a magazine, but a connection to amazing people and their creativity. Finding the right time, the right words have been difficult. It’s not that we don’t care, and we will always be grateful for the support everyone has given us. How do you say goodbye to this? How do you make an announcement that you know will disappoint so many people? I hope that you all will understand, and continue to show empathy to everyone involved since it’s been a difficult time for all of us.

What will happen to the preorders?

Preorders for issue 10 were made a while back and we know that everyone wants to get their hands on that issue. Because of the magazine shutting down, personal problems of the people behind the scenes, and the general chaos that has been happening in the world we haven’t had a chance to get the orders out to everyone. However, we WILL be delivering those orders. We promise they will be fulfilled. We hope that you will be patient with us as we navigate bringing everything to a close.

Ultimately, what I hope everyone takes away from this announcement is how much we have appreciated working on this magazine with such amazing people. Getting to share the fantastic artwork, writing, photographs, cosplay, etc with you all has been a real treasure. The people who have contributed to our magazine are some of the best people I have ever had the pleasure to work with and I hope that they continue to create amazing things.

We will continue to provide more updates as time goes on. And we thank you for your patience and understanding.
