One of the biggest things I notice about accounts that aren’t preforming as well as they should be is that they make everything about them. 👀

The common misunderstanding is that while customers do want to get to know the company better, they don’t want to always see you talking about out how great you are.

1. That’s telling and not showing.

2. You’re not solving their problem.

You’ve worked hard for your business and you should be proud! 👏

👉But your content should have a healthy mix of what’s going on AND how your product or service solves their problem. (Plus a few other things 😉)

As a business owner, when you interact with potential customers online are you truly presenting yourself in the best light? 💡

I recently interacted with a business owner that could’ve potentially not only gained work from me- but from people I knew would want their service.

I reached out after they made a post on a group page wanting to bring on new business and wanted to know their rates and info and just generally introducing myself. I explained I had a vision for something I wanted to do and asked for the rates and if that was in their wheelhouse.

I did introduce myself and what I do only to establish the business as she was looking for specific businesses.

❌ I did NOT try to sell anything.

❌ I did not offer my services

I simply tried to welcome them to the area, be positive that things will pick up with their work, and offered a few things I’d seen with others in their niche for this area to help based on her public group post.

What I got were cold, very short, responses. 🤔
Shortly followed by “do you want to use my service?” type message.

At first I was confused. I didn’t think I had done anything wrong other than try to help. Which is what I like to do- as most of you know I want everyone to succeed.

But then I realized, that they could just come off like that on social media and maybe aren’t like that in person.

👉OR

They could have had a history with MLM businesses that start off acting friendly but are really only there for the sale.

Either way I’d like to think that this business owner is not like that in person. 😉

Sadly, the entire thing made me no longer want to try to do business in the future with this person even keeping that in mind- and that’s how your potential client will respond when your customer service and social interactions aren’t representing you correctly.

So business owners, I ask you again- are you representing your business correctly on social?
