One minute Weather Saturday, Jan. 25
THE WEATHER AUTHORITY
The Weather Authority is monitoring the dangerous cold air moving in Saturday night.
It’s about to turn very cold! Get ready for temperatures to fall through the day on Sunday with low 30s in the afternoon. There may be a few snow flurries or light snow showers through the day Sunday, but they will not amount to much. (No winter wonderland this time) The bigger story will be Monday morning when temperatures fall into the 10s and windchills will make it feel more like zero at times. Daytime highs will also struggle to make it to or above freezing through mid-week. Stay warm and stay tuned for updates.

Getting ready for the snow. ⛄️
***This post is from the January 10-11 snow storm.***
Get ready for the cold and maybe something a little more next week. It’s still early but confidence is growing that we could see some winter weather here in the Tennessee Valley. What will happen is all dependent upon the track of a Gulf low. Right now our long range models are in agreement that the low will develop and move across the Gulf Coast. This along with the cold air set to be in place could give us snow or a wintery mix. It’s too early to give specifics, but just know that there is the chance for winter weather by the end of next week. Please check back for updates in the days ahead.
Our next system arrives on Sunday. This system will bring rain and possibly a few storms to the area. Right now there is not a lot of storm energy in place for this system. However, there will be a lot of wind energy as this system comes through, so it will turn gusty. Be sure to keep checking back for updates on this system.
Why was there no tornado warning for the Athens tornado?
