Happy Father's Day, all. Here are some words of wisdom from a few of my favorite Brat-related dads...
Valley Girl 1983: Well, what do YOU want?
Sixteen Candles: Mike IS a dork.
Pretty in Pink: Well, does Andie know how you feel about this?
WarGames: Could we have pills & cook the corn?

Wow! Thanks to all of you for listening & being a part of Al-bum Sides here on social media. Special thanks to my partner in crime Dave Adkins who does all the technical wizardry I don't understand.
This is a link to WMUL's press release. Scroll down to "Audio/Radio Specialty Program" if you'd like to go back & listen to the episode that won the award.

I have a little over 1/2 a show here, but I need some help. Name some Disco songs by artists that were NOT Disco.

This Monday features part one of our tribute to the genius Les Paul. Let's get warmed up with an Ultimate Al-bum Side. God bless FM rock radio back in the day for frequently playing at least these 1st 2 cuts that flow perfectly, "Heartbreaker" & "Living Loving Maid" by Led Zeppelin. And the really REALLY cool DJs included "Ramble On" as well. It's hard to listen to just one without the rest. So dig Jimmy Page's 1st recordings using his now legendary Gibson Les Paul/Marshall stack combo on SIDE TWO of LZII. Plus don't miss The Best of Les Paul Guitars + the 6ยฐ of Dr. Hook & Dr. John on Monday's show.

I've probably watched 3 Roger Corman movies this weekend featuring Bruce Dern & lo & behold, it's his birthday. What a great actor!
๐ Happy 88th Birthday to Bruce Dern! ๐
Bruce MacLeish Dern was born on June 4, 1936, in Chicago. Bruce's journey began with a passion for acting nurtured at the Actors Studio alongside legends like Elia Kazan and Lee Strasberg. He honed his craft on stage and screen, starring in Broadway productions and iconic films that showcased his immense talent.
Bruce rose to prominence during the New Hollywood era with unforgettable roles in films like The Trip, They Shoot Horses, Don't They?, The Cowboys, and The Great Gatsby. His performances were marked by intensity, depth, and a unique ability to bring characters to life with authenticity and emotion.
Throughout the 1980s and beyond, Bruce continued to captivate audiences with his roles in Tattoo, That Championship Season, The 'Burbs, Last Man Standing, and more. His collaborations with directors like Quentin Tarantino and Alexander Payne further showcased his versatility and range as an actor.
Beyond the silver screen, Bruce's personal journey reflects resilience and strength. He has been a devoted father to actress Laura Dern and has navigated life's challenges with grace and determination.
In recent years, Bruce has continued to enrich the cinematic landscape with his performances in acclaimed films like Nebraska, for which he received the Best Actor Award at the Cannes Film Festival and an Academy Award nomination. His dedication to his craft and passion for storytelling continue to inspire generations of actors and filmmakers.
As we celebrate Bruce Dern's birthday, let's honor his incredible contributions to cinema and wish him continued success, happiness, and fulfillment in all his endeavors!

Can't believe I forgot to post this yesterday. Fine, it'll be our Ultimate Al-bum Side Sunday offering. Side 1 of Van Halen's spectacular debut album, perhaps changing the trajectory of hard rock forever. Van Halen also will be featured on the show tomorrow as they were paid a record setting amount of $ for headlining Day 2 of US Festival 1983. So tune in for that + Rock Day w/David Bowie, Stevie Nicks, & my man Stevie Van Zandt on PART 2 of Better-Know-a-Festival: US '83.

Haha. I just posted something from this album yesterday for Pete Sears's bday. Now I'm back celebrating what is arguably Rod Stewart's best album of all time, released on this day in 1971. Also includes "Maggie May", "Reason to Believe", & Rod's version of "(I Know) I'm Losing You", one of my favorite songs ever. But here's the title track.

Happy birthday to the ridiculously talented Pete Sears. He played piano on some of Rod Stewart's greatest hits: Cut Across Shorty, Maggie May, Reason to Believe, etc. & was an enormous part of Jefferson Starship, playing bass/keys/guitar & co-writing Be My My Lady, Stranger, & Winds of Change w/wife Jeanette. See comments for more...
'(Find A) Reason To Believe' is a song of Rod Stewart's third studio album 'Every Picture Tells a Story', released in 1971. For entertainment purposes only.-...
