Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, marks the moment in United States’ history—June 19, 1865—when the remaining 250,000 enslaved African Americans in Confederate states were legally declared free, two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was signed. It's both a somber and celebratory day, marked across America with block parties, cookouts and educational events. In 2021, Congress designated Juneteenth a federal holiday, observed this year on Monday, June 19.

Our mission: to help our fellow West Virginians with our Don't Tread on Us Festival, a concept we are spreading across the state. ✔️Huntington representatives have officially been invited. 💙This is an opportunity for them to get to know you and a chance for you to get an understanding of the "why" things are being done. 🌎It's an opportunity to also meet your neighbors and to have open conversations so we may at the end of the day have a good time and learn to respect each other regardless of what we look like or who we are. It's time.

Now that we are in May I wanted to post some more information. Flyers have started to circulate for the event. . Spaces are $25 if you are selling items. All small businesses, crafters, and artists are welcome. Educational spaces are free. Please bring your own set up. Food trucks!!! We love to eat and want to offer you space for $25 as well! If you are interested in participating email [email protected] and let us know. This is a non partisan community resource event. It's time for us to get to know our neighbors again. Can't wait to see you there!
