What is Catching Dinosaurs Alligator Gar conservation? I run this page to promote conservation, life, responsible stewardship of the planet and showing the world just how amazing our Earth actually is. I have always had a fascination with toothy fish, the more teeth the better the more misunderstood the better. The first time i saw an alligator gar i was 11 years old i spent a solid week trying to

catch 5-6 footers and then came face to face with a true giant while canoeing the river. The gar I found that day started a life time of passion for these fish. I have spent the last 10 years devoting myself to learning everything i could about catch and release angling for this species and how to help the conservation of alligator gar. Some tarpon highlights from 2025 all landed in Texas. Lost quite a few of them And some were giants too.

Was an incredible year for gar fishing had tons of happy clients and some new personal records to beat for the coming year. Going to have to beat 230 feet of gar landed in a day and 10 gar over 6 foot landed in a day. Probably the best gar fishing year to date

Been all over the smallmouth buffalo averaging over 100 pounds of buffalo an hour. Bite should stay consistent until gar season starts back up in April.

Apparently small mouth buffalo will eat little jigs consitently. It’s a ton of fun on the light tackle.

Biggest smallmouth buffalo for the day she came in at 37 inches and upper 30s on wieght. One of about 50 buffalo landed in 6 hours.

I’m a rough fish fishing guide water temps are too low for gar so I’m switching over to smallmouth buffalo and catfish for the winter time. I run these trips every year they arnt super popular but they should be. We fished 5 hours yesterday and landed 700 pounds of fish, we had 10 fish over 30 pounds and half a dozen doubles. I run these trips in central Texas and can’t recommend them enough for getting kids into fishing or just simply trying to get off the couch for winter and have a fish tug on your line.

Got a little salty managed to hookup a Giant tarpon but couldn’t finish the fight 🤨 gonna try again shortly.

Probably my last gar trip on the trinity for the year unless someone wants to book for the next couple of days. Gar fishing has been absolutely amazing this year and this last trip was no exception with nearly 90 foot of gar landed on lures.

My goal is to get these fish a game fish status ending bow fishing for the species, i also aim to teach EVERYONE how they can safely catch and release these fish on rod and reel without hurting them.
