WRITE IN CALEB BALLARD FOR DISTRICT 4 SCHOOL BOARD!
Mr Bentzel calls this school a “win” because they didn’t let adult problems and politics get the way of their mission? They “held the line” against the will of the people in this community!!!
Here is Tom Bell School Boards comments about the Agriculture students and the lawn and landscaping pathway!
This is a special called board meeting from April 14 2022.
In this meeting the board approved a measure to adopt HB 678.
This bill was put in place to “Fast-track school construction projects
House Bill 678 shortens the approval process for school projects.
According to a press release, HB 678 will make it easier for school districts to build facilities such as gymnasiums and classrooms.”
In this same meeting Board chair Tom Bell said “From what I understand, it doesn’t change how we are to do things,” Bell said. “It doesn’t change the quality of the project, or what documents need to be submitted. It just allows things to be done in a more expedited fashion.”
Mr Hunt said “we will still be following the guidelines from the facilities manual”.
This is the same manual where I found the model procurement law KRS 45a.365. That law requires all advertisements for sealed bids to be placed in the local newspaper 7 days prior to ANY bid opening meeting!!
So there should be no questions regarding the process that should be followed. It’s outlined in the law!!!
Will our board approve this project knowing the law was not followed in this bidding process? This meeting will take place Tuesday! Special called the public will not be allowed to speak! Will any board members ask if the law was followed?
Please share!!
This is from august 12th 2021 public forum at south Christian. This is the first time Chris Bentzel was uncomfortable during this consolidation process. He tried to limit my questions when I went over the misconception list! I asked the crowd if they wanted me to continue every hand raised! This is the only time he has listened to the public’s opinion since then!!!
This just popped up in my memory’s. This clip is from 2 years ago at the first community forum discussing consolidation.
Questions I asked that are still unanswered.
🔴what is the student population?
🔴what will they do with HHS and CCHS when they are closed? They stated plans would be made if the board voted to consolidate.
🔴why do we still have the old CCMS building standing?
🔴what will we do with all the practice facilities at HHS now that the middle school has moved?
🔴what happens if we grow?
We still know as much today as we did then and now all the plans they presented then are in the TRASH!
We have spent over $14 million dollars since then and still have empty pockets!! There is nothing to tell the community because they still don’t know!!!
“Any time local leaders aren’t saying a lot there’s more to be said.” -Caleb Ballard
That stands true for a lot of things not just this!!
Here is a clip of current board member Rebbeca Peppers comments from the meeting Thursday night.
It seems that the community’s biggest issue with this change is the logistics challenge it presents. That’s one issue yes there are a multitude of other issues that have not presented themselves yet!
Mrs Pepper proposes several meetings to hear people’s concerns and hopefully address the “misconceptions” surrounding this issue!!!
She may have not been paying attention in 2021 but CCPS hosted 3 community forums to address people’s concerns about the high school consolidation!! Out of those meetings we only learned leaders didn’t have a clue about the scope of the project!! Almost 2 years later we still know very little about the high school consolidation project!!!
What makes this project any different? Remember when news was broke that this place was coming down the pipeline originally? Ccps leaders lied through their teeth to cover it up!!
The biggest issue the community has with ANY Ccps project is TRUST! WE CAN NOT TRUST THE LEADERS!
Here are my comments from the board meeting last night.
Good evening my name is Caleb Ballard and I come before this board tonight to request that you vote against or vote to table the latest district facility plan.
Once again the local planning committee has come up with a plan that severely alters our schools and they have not given the community any time to understand the plans. This plan comes without a cost estimate without a solid timeframe of completion. There are numerous other questions that people in the community have been asking. my kids bus time how? How will kids get to school or will they play sports in the afternoon? It seems there are a few answers to the questions at hand.
This is just a repeat of what happened in 2021 with the consolidated high school plan. Additionally, with that project going on the district will have very few funds left for building and construction. As a matter of fact that 2500 page packet hasn’t had a successful bidder yet. We still don’t know the true cost of this potentially over budget consolidated high school. Yet it appears we are going to now take on another multi million dollar project.
The plan that is presented does not have solid logic or data to support what is being changed . Yes, we are pulling six grade out of the elementary schools, but even with that we are still eliminating one of our newest elementary campuses. We are taking children from a school that was built in 2008 and we are putting them in a school that was built in 1974. Where are all the people that said schools over 50 years old weren’t it for learning? Isn’t that why we’re consulting the high schools?
If you approve this plan we are taking our ability to undergo a new construction project away for 10 years at the very least. This plan will also more than likely come with a tax increase. Last time I checked schools weren’t being offered more funding for projects like this. The money has to come from somewhere. That somewhere
THIS IS CCPS #ALLIN!!
This video is from last year sometime. It was filmed at Christian County high school. As you can see an employee is painting over what appears to be mold/ water damage!!!!! Instead of simply replacing the ceiling tile.
A ceiling tile the same size on lowes.com cost roughly $50. I am positive that bulk discounts would reduce that cost significantly. According to the Kentucky department of education the ceiling tiles at Christian County high school have NEVER BEEN REPLACED! That’s right we’re rocking the same ceiling tiles they were put up in 1970!!!
This is how Christian county maintenance treats all other schools too. It’s not the employees fault. They’re just simply doing what they’re told. Step over a dime to save a penny. Or a nickel just depending on who you’re talking to! This is Chris Bentzel’s administration in full view!! This is exactly how he runs the school system.
This is why people do not want to consolidate high schools .
This is why people do not want to consolidate elementary schools .
This is CCPS
In the comments will be the Kentucky department of education recommendation .
Can anyone tell me if we are reducing the square footage or keeping the original square footage for our new consolidated high school?
Please listen to this 30 second clip from an interview with our superintendent. It sounds like he may not know either?
Is this who we need in charge of a multimillion dollar project that is 2 years behind schedule?
“We are not making the building cheaper” Chris Bentzel said. So that means bids will come back over budget again!!
Well well well…..
If this story doesnt mention the superintendent manufacturing a false threat outside of the school system on the day weapons were found at a school, the illegal vote to approve the new metal detectors and the board member waltzing through Walmart while the meeting was going on they didn’t do a good job investigating!!
Wonder if Fox 17 or other news agencies will reach out to anyone in the community to get the real story before Monday?
