Today someone texted me after seeing my daughter’s new profile picture: “I didn’t know she was dating a black boy, did you?”

I see a young man who comes into my home with respect: Yes Ma’am, No Ma’am, polite, kind, and genuine. He takes my daughter on real dates—ballgames, dinners, time together—not clubs or parties. He treats her gently, never raising his voice, never making her cry.
Every Sunday, he brings her to church, plays in the band while she sits proudly with his family. Tell me how many young men make that a priority today.
So, would I trade him for a “white boy” who disrespects her, lies, or hurts her? Absolutely not.
What matters is simple: he loves my daughter, honors her, and makes her feel like a queen. That’s something I never had, and I’m grateful she does.
