The Pavement Pounders Podcast, aka Take Me to Your Reader, is a podcast dedicated to discussing well-known science fiction films and the written works that inspired them. The Pavement Pounders (Seth, James, and Colin) are running buddies who enjoy discussing a variety of topics while attempting to hold off fatigue. Science fiction is a topic they come back to over and over again, from novels to television and film. Now the whole world will be able to get in on the conversation.

Like a nearly silent sub, surfacing to launch a podcast at you, it's the Take Me To Your Reader takeover of the USS Blueback at the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry (OMSI).

Under discussion is The Hunt for Red October, by Tom Clancy, and we're joined by Tim M from OMSI as well as Peter Kuskie and Tim Kuskie. (The book ends on December 19, so this was the perfect day to post it, at least in the US. Sorry, Michael.)

Also, Merry Christmas, because this is clearly a Christmas movie and book.

New Take Me To Your Reader episode! The Penal Colony, by Richard Herley, adapted to 1994's No Escape.

(I know it was supposed to be The Hunt for Red October, and we'll pick that up next month.)

If you've never read R.U.R. (Rossum's Universal Robots), we're covering a local adaptation of the play this month. We talk to the director/adapter about some changes he made, but we think you'll agree if you read the original that some changes were needed.

In any case, any talk of the new adaptation is essentially a discussion of the original, so you don't need to have seen it to enjoy the conversation.

If you're in the Portland metro area, the play is running through October 20 at the Lakewood Theater in Lake Oswego. Let them know we sent you!

(Colin here). On social media, I highly recommend the account "The Spaceshipper". He follows SF media and games AND space ships. Today he tipped me to SF adaptation #384 on our list, Tales of Pirx the Pilot by Stanislaw Lem, which is currently being adapted again with a script written by the Adrian Tchaikovsky.

Doing some advanced planning for 2028. Michael Simshauser, is this place legit? Does it have all the required Pavement Pounder amenities (disc golf, good food, great fans, awesome culture and scenery)?
