Creating Scripture Cards
Step 3 - Arranging the flowers
The arrangement of the flowers many times depends on the Scripture being used. I want the flowers to bring attention to the Scripture or message. It is like arranging flowers in a vase. You keep moving things around until they look put together. This step sometimes takes some time. I start with my focus flower and fill in with smaller flowers and greenery. It usually looks worse before it comes together. I like to have lots of overlapping flowers and I use a masking technique to "erase" the flowers in the background. It is one of my favorite parts of drawing the designs. The flowers come to life once the cleanup process is done.

Step 2 - Decide on flowers to use
Most of the flowers I choose come from flowers I see in landscape or nature. However, sometimes, I see an unusual flower online and know that it will be perfect for one of my designs. Some of the flowers are just flowers that hold a personal connection for me - like violets. My mom always grew violets. I also think about the season. Like the Thanksgiving set had lots of fall colors in them. I experiment with the flowers and color combinations until I find the perfect balance.

Creating Scripture Cards
Step 1: Choose Your Color Palette
The first step is all about choosing a palette that brings each scripture to life. Sometimes I create the background then choose the Scripture that best fits that design. Other times, I look at the message of the Scripture or Greeting card message and choose colors that I feel fit best. Some of my color palettes come from pictures of florals or even from flowers i find in places I visit. Recently, I visited the Nashville Zoo and came home with lots of pictures of landscape. I look for inspiration everywhere I go. If you have a color palette that you like, I would love for you to share it with me.
