wanted this unpublished, but his sons decided otherwise.
"Until August" tells the story of Ana Magdalena, a woman on a yearly quest for passion with strangers. Instead of feminist exploration I thought the story was about male gaze on a woman's "crisis"? ‍♀️

Here's what to expect:
A woman grappling with aging and a lovefilled marriage
A questionable portrayal of female sexuality
A story fueled by a misplaced $20 bill?

I loaned this book from Vernon Area Public Library because it looked like something that could be read real fast and would help me to get back to reading for pleasure.

Finally as readers we will never know how much of “Until August” belongs to Gabo and how much is actually the work of Cristóbal Pera, his editor.
