Intro:

I want to share with you my experience with a
fellow man
Though he drank like a fish and had a lot of issues,
I could relate to him
Probably because I suffered from my own anxieties and had my own mental issues to deal with
Maybe deep down I knew this is how I could relate
to him, we both suffered from mental instabilities,
But there was one thing I admired that he had
that I didn't have, and that was his Fearlessness

Verse 1:

He has opened my mind, no more stressin' time
While he walks the line with a drunken sign
Though viewed unrefined, he intertwines with mine
Flaunting similarities of broken minds

He breathes lawless disorder, thinkin' fearless order
But the drunken thwarter, employed this brick and mortar
Though my thoughts are quarter shorter, I liked this misorder,
Cuz I relate to him well since we both got mental disorders

Alcohol at his gums, Cigarette at his thumbs
He said where I come from, I don't let fear succumb
Me, so you must overcome this, a rule of thumb
He was a fearless one, crazy till kingdom come

Though he was arrogant outside, he struggled deep inside
Deeply preoccupied, and really horrified
From his ma's wh***ng rides, pa's abusive side
Where he beat his son, not knowing he took away his pride

Chorus:

Now I know, he felt his drinkin' gave him control
It soothes the soul, but what he did and didn't know
Was he was outta control, living in a hellhole
Police chiefs on patrol, cause he was sittin' on parole

I was the driver sold, setting his cruise control
Force to have self-control, though I struggled to cope
Cause I repressed the flow, didn't know how to show
So scarred with fear and woes, and always, always enclosed

Verse 2:

Wife and kid he said, gets to my head
I'm like fightin' battles ahead, soldier filled with lead
3 times been wed, with not enough bread, I'm in the red
Wish I was dead, and wife's hooked on her meds

I filled it in, so I said this to him
These psyches burn your skin, use meds to shut you in
Tell you hold up your chin, but you cave in
Sometimes, my man, you just can't win

There are times when I think, docs take it too far
Stick you with more meds, and leave you more scarred
You're like an old car, with a troubling start
But I accept you as you, for who you are

He then said this to me, no one has ever said this to
me
I am glad you are here with me, wouldn't you agree?
Though I couldn't guarantee it would end his misery
I gained self-worth for once, in sense I set myself
free

How could I connect with a man who's not afraid?
When I was so lost in a world I could not face
I'm just holding back from anxiety, fear and rage
Caught up in a life that just seems to waste

He drank more than he could take and I rarely drank
But I stuck it up because I myself was a little more than fu**ed up
Seems as though he and I were just 2 simple men, and that was enough

Worth to note, he took me on his boat
Was taught an anecdote, while left on a rock face remote
He said afloat, life's a biblical note
The land and his creatures are God's gifts for us folks

He talked like a Father-In-Law, who just broken the Law
Always telling me do you got any Indian in ya wrecking balls
Que será, será is left in unwritten law
Cleanse yourself, voilá, my sins Au revoir

So, therapy came next, and family rejects
This alcoholic wreck though I seem to object
I said don't breathe down my neck
Don't focus on my wrecks
Take a look at the effects
I deserve more respect

However, strange it is, in spite all of this
I decided to quit, I realized I wasn't fit to do carpentry
Cause he had me paint a bit, and I had a fit
So I left to pursue my dreams with spit

My name is Travis Balitz. I have been living with Bipolar Disorder since 2008. I have had many other diagnosis such as anxiety, depression, schizoaffective disorder and bipolar type 2 . I am currently diagnosed with bipolar type 1. There have been many ups and downs in my life. Here on this channel I am advocate for Mental Health. I share my experiences, good and bad and in between.
