A photo exhibition chronicling the historical account of the life and some of the literary works of renowned playwright and pan-Africanist, Efua Theodora Sutherland, has been unveiled at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Accra.

Christened: “Mate Masie”, an adinkra symbol in Akan that means “what I hear, I keep”, the exhibition attracted a number of patrons who were at the park to commemorate the Emancipation Day celebration.

In the olden days, drinking water was often sold on the streets of Accra, Ghana, by vendors who carried it in gallons.

These vendors, often women and children, carried buckets or basins filled with water.

Customers would bring their own containers or cups to buy the water.

Then there was also Ice Water.

Vendors would sell chilled water, often referred to as "ice water," especially in hot weather.

The Asantehene is currently in the UK as part of his Silver Jubilee celebrations, the first visit to the King of England since King Charles III’s coronation in March 2023.

The visit comes as the Asantehene is in the United Kingdom (UK) among others things for a lecture at the British Museum.

Almost two million youth in the country are not in education, employment or training (NEET), the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) has found.

Its annual Household Income and Expenditure Survey (AHIES) indicates that in the third quarter of last year, 1.9 million youth in the country, aged 15 to 35 were NEET.

The number, however, represents a significant decline in the numbers as compared to the same period the previous year.

The Parliament of Ghana has passed the National Roads Authority Bill, 2023.

The bill, which was passed last Thursday, establishes the National Roads Authority as the unified body responsible for the planning, development, maintenance and management of the national road network in Ghana and to provide for other matters.

The authority will bring three key agencies, namely, the Ghana Highway Authority, the Department of Urban Roads and the Department of Feeder Roads, under a unified authority.

It will also put together the management of national roads in Ghana under a uniform authority, while leaving local roads under the management of the metropolitan, municipal and district assemblies (MMDAs).

If assented to by the President, the Authority will further seek to address the limitations posed by the current structure of the road sector.
