MAY 6, 2017 CHANGE OF PLANS
Tracey cannot make it so we will:
1. Hash out your plot: work in groups of 3. For 20 minutes focus on 1 individual who describes her plot. The rest of the time is spent brainstorming plot twists, etc. At the end of 20 minutes, switch people.
2. Have a discussion about the parts of the writing process that we are struggling with.
3. Writing prompts: everyone works on their WIP with little writing prompts given every 15 minutes.
4. Writing sprints: Write for 5 minutes, 10 min, 15 min, 10 min and 5 min. Each time self-track the number of words written, but don't share with the group. Then set up a writing schedule for yourself for the next month and project how many words you can write.
(This is in place of her workshop/speaker time. All esle remains on track for the day!)

This program is to encourage everyone to set individual writing goals for themselves as well as to compete against one another in a friendly manner, and most importantly, establish good writing habits. I recommend you focus on a single project for the duration, but it you want to switch between multiple projects/different writing activities, you are responsible for the weekly calculations in order to report in.

The basics:

· The six week dash begins at 12:01 AM Sunday, July 10th and ends at 11:59 PM Saturday August 20th.
· Report-ins on your progress are due to Tina each Saturday by 11:59 PM. They should be sent to Tina [email protected] and NOT TO THE ENTIRE GROUP.
· Before you begin, set your individual goal for the six weeks. This can be as simple as:
o I will write every day and report my weekly page count at the end of each week
o I will write a minimum of [X pages] every day and report my weekly page count at the end of each week
o I will write a minimum of [XX pages] a week and report my weekly page count at the end of each week
o I will write [### pages] for the duration of the dash, and report my weekly page count at the end of each week
o Something of your own devising, providing you make a commitment to report in each week.Regardless of your individual goal, it is important to report in each week to keep yourself committed and engaged.
· It is equally important that you not get discouraged if you don’t meet your weekly goal. Everyone has an off week once in a while. That doesn’t mean you have to give up. For all you know, your next week’s total can be double your expectations. The important thing is to keep writing.
· In setting a goal, take a look at your calendar for the six-week dash and see what you have planned. Plan your goal around your other commitments, but make sure you make a commitment to write. You can do this by blocking out time on your calendar to write. Tell your friends and family about your commitment so they can respect your writing time—and encourage you along the way. Think about your current writing habits and try to take it up one notch! If you normally write 10 pages a week, set your goal at 12. If you write 10,000 words a week, try for 12,000. If you don’t know, try to figure it out!
