Dear friends and fellow Patriots,

It is with great sadness that I must report the passing of Past National Commander Patrick Little.

PNC Little was a true American hero who dedicated his life to serving our country and fighting for the rights and well-being of his fellow veterans. He served with honor and distinction in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, where he was wounded in action and awarded the Purple Heart.

PNC Little served in the US Army from 1968 to 1970 and served in Vietnam with 1/30th Field Artillery, 1st Air Cavalry Division. He was wounded on August 12, 1969, on LZ Becky in Tay Ninh province during a devastating incoming mortar and rocket attack that wiped out all three of the Battery’s gun emplacements. He also had a distinguished twenty-two-year career with the DuPont Corporation. He assisted in the startup of yet2.com, an Internet company that is the global leader in the marketing of Intellectual Propriety. Pat is also the past President of Union Optical Company USA.

After his military service, PNC Little continued to serve his fellow veterans by becoming actively involved in the Military Order of the Purple Heart and was dedicated to providing assistance and support to veterans who have been wounded or killed in combat. He rose through the ranks of the organization, ultimately becoming its National Commander, a position he held with distinction and honor.

Throughout his life, PNC Little embodied the values of courage, integrity, and selflessness. He was a true patriot who loved his country and his fellow veterans, and he worked tirelessly to make a difference in their lives.

Today, we say goodbye to him with heavy hearts, but we also celebrate his life and his many accomplishments. We are grateful for his service and his dedication, and we will always remember him as a true American hero.

Rest in peace, Pat, and thank you for your service to our nation and our Order.

Every February 22, we come together for National Margarita Day to pay homage to our favorite celebratory cocktail. The margarita — triple sec, tequila, and lime juice — was created in 1938 in Mexico and is widely considered the official drink of having fun. It’s always 5 o’clock somewhere, and that’s never truer than on National Margarita Day. So get out a shaker, pull out your frozen margarita machine, or head to your local watering hole and order a margarita. Up, on ice, or on the rocks, you can’t go wrong. Salud!

HAPPY PRESIDENT'S DAY WEEKEND!!!
President's day weekend was initially established around the birthdate of Former President George Washington. "Washington's Birthday was celebrated on February 22nd until well into the 20th Century. However, in 1968 Congress passed the Monday Holiday Law to 'provide uniform annual observances of certain legal public holidays on Mondays.' By creating more 3-day weekends, Congress hoped to 'bring substantial benefits to both the spiritual and economic life of the Nation.'
"One of the provisions of this act changed the observance of Washington's Birthday from February 22nd to the third Monday in February. Ironically, this guaranteed that the holiday would never be celebrated on Washington's actual birthday, as the third Monday in February cannot fall any later than February 21. You might know the Purple Heart as a very honorable award that certain military members may receive, and this Purple Heart is awarded in the name of the U.S. President.

But did you know who the only President to receive a Purple Heart is? The answer is the U.S.'s 35th President, John F. Kennedy. Before becoming President, Kennedy served in the U.S. Naval Reserves in 1941. While commanding a series of motorized torpedo boats, Kennedy sustained an injury and was awarded the Navy and Marine Corps Medal and Purple Heart on June 12, 1944.
