#HamiltonProud: Skip Batten's Story
Skip Batten's wife, Marie, was a dedicated volunteer at Kettering Health Hamilton's Wishing Well Gift Shop. After Marie passed away, the gift shop became a place for Skip to cherish her memory. He found solace in continuing their traditions and continues to wear a part of her name badge alongside his own, a small gesture that keeps him connected to her.
For Skip, volunteering is a lifeline and a way for him to repay the love and support he received in his own time of need. Through this unwavering dedication, Skip believes he is making a difference, touching lives in ways that go beyond the walls of the gift shop, and carrying Marie’s legacy of compassion with him in every interaction. #HamiltonProud

Corner of Front and Washington Streets in Hamilton, OH, July, 23. 2024
Roger Troutman Sign Dedication
"Coming to see this. To see his name up on a street that I grew up on is the most amazing thing that I could ever even imagine."
The City of Hamilton honored music legend Roger Troutman Tuesday morning with an honorary street naming. Troutman, best known as the frontman of music band Zapp, was instrumental in the funk genre of music. Troutman worked with such names as Roger Clinton, Bootsy Collins, Snoop Dogg and others. Zapp had such hits as "More Bounce to the Ounce", "Be Alright" and "Computer Love".
Troutman found his biggest success working as a featured artist alongside Dr. Dre in Tupac's number 1 single "California Love". Washington Street in Hamilton was given the honorary name because that is where Roger and his family grew up, playing music out of the garage and in the alley next to their house. #HamiltonProud City of Hamilton, Ohio - City Hall
