On December 23, 2022, Rock Hill Fire Department Firefighter/Paramedic David Campbell lost his life in a tragic car accident on his way to work.

The Shelby-Cleveland County Regional Airport accommodates corporate and general aviation via a 5002 foot by 100 foot wide fully lighted runway with full parallel taxiway (runway resurfaced in 2004).

The airport has a terminal with restrooms, lounge, refreshments and pilot’s lounge.

In addition, the Airport has a Non-Directional Beacon (NDB – Frequency 417), All Weather Operating System (AWOS – Frequency 118.425 – Phone No. 704-487-0100), and meteorological weather station to assist pilots in approach landings and flight planning analysis.

Daily operations and flight services provided by the airport’s fixed base operator (FBO) the City of Shelby.

**ANNUAL SANTA ANNOUNCEMENT**
We are excited to share that we WILL continue the annual ALARM Christmas tradition of reporting SANTA sightings over Mecklenburg County as he arrives on Christmas Eve. We will patch our Main Dispatch channel (CFD-ALARM) to State-Wide Call (SW-CALL) so that all NC Dispatch Centers, Fire, Police and EMS Departments throughout the State can participate, listen in, and then put the kiddos to bed. Don’t be afraid to announce your center, your shift, your squad, your company or your Department and wish everyone a Merry Christmas! ALL are welcome.

We are also learning, from NORAD, that Santa is expected to arrive earlier this year than years’ previous, so that all kiddos can hear the magic first hand before heading to bed.

More to follow as we learn more from air traffic control, our weather experts and of course our emergency management folks. We’re standing up Charlotte Fire FieldComm (as is tradition) to make sure comms are clear as a bell (It’s what they do).

Fog is definitely developing over the Cleveland county area. Temps should be in the low 40's heading to work with a high of the mid 50's with sunny skies today. Tonight temps drop into the low 30's, back up to the high 40's for Tuesday with sunshine. Rain chances back Wednesday

*Fatal Accident*
A fatal Vehicle vs Pedestrian accident has happened tonight in the Providence division. The accident happened 8pm. Upon arrival to the scene officers found a victim with life threatening injuries. MEDIC then transported the victim who was pronounced dead at the hospital. No name has been released as of 10:40pm and any other info will come from CMPD public affairs.
