Moving from one country to another is a significant step, often filled with uncertainty and fear due to the unfamiliarity and the challenge of leaving behind what you are accustomed to. Kat O'Sullivan's experience of moving from Mexico to the United States offers valuable insights. She shares her five C's that helped her overcome doubt and take action, which might be beneficial for you too.
𝟭. 𝗖𝗼𝘂𝗿𝗮𝗴𝗲: It all begins with the courage to ask, "What if it is possible?" and "What am I not seeing?" Courage is the foundation for considering new possibilities.
𝟮. 𝗖𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗠𝗶𝗻𝗱𝘀𝗲𝘁: With courage, the next step is to shift your mindset from "impossible" to "possible." This mental shift is crucial for opening up to new opportunities.
𝟯. 𝗖𝗹𝗮𝗿𝗶𝘁𝘆: Once your mindset has shifted, it's essential to gain clarity about what you truly want. Define your goals and understand your reasons. Ask yourself, "This is what I want, and this is why it's very important."
𝟰. 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗶𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁:With clarity, it's time to commit to your goals. Commitment involves dedicating yourself fully to the process and being willing to do whatever it takes to achieve your objectives.
𝟱. 𝗖𝗮𝗽𝗮𝗰𝗶𝘁𝘆: Finally, you need to build your capacity to make your goals a reality. This involves acquiring new mindsets, skills, knowledge, and support systems necessary to put your plans into motion. Ask yourself, "What's the new mindset? What are the new skills and knowledge I need? What support will help me succeed?"
In conclusion, moving to a new country is undoubtedly challenging, but by embracing courage, changing your mindset, gaining clarity, committing to your goals, and building your capacity, you can transform your doubts into action. Kat O'Sullivan's journey exemplifies how these principles can help you navigate and succeed in such a significant trans
How do you overcome grief after losing someone? You don’t. Grief remains a part of you, but over time, you build new experiences and beautiful moments around it. This process is a form of pivoting—finding new interests, hobbies, and connections that bring joy. While the weight of grief may not lessen, your ability to carry it strengthens.
September is Suicide Prevention Month. Before it ends, tune in to our podcast with Rachel Zimmerman, who exemplifies the concept of pivoting in life. After the painful loss of her husband, Rachel didn't overcome her grief; instead, she learned to live alongside it, finding new paths to hope and joy. Her story highlights the importance of mental health and demonstrates how one can pivot from despair to a renewed sense of purpose.
