Enzo Morales won his second straight state title with Walden Grove High School at Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Saturday and finished the season undefeated at 58-0, becoming only the second wrestler in program history with an undefeated season. Morales and Walden Grove head wrestling coach Victor Gonzalez talked about the achievement following the state tournament.
Sahuarita High School won the boys wrestling state championship at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Feb. 22, claiming its fourth straight Division III title and sixth straight top-two finish. Gabriel Gallardo and Daniel Guererro were two of four state champions and 11 medal winners for the Mustangs. Gallardo is the first four-time individual state champion in program history. Guerrero earned two individual state titles as a Mustang. Sahuarita wrestling has become one of the premier programs in Arizona under head coach Paul Vasquez, who arrived in 2018.

About 200 people showed up at La Cañada Drive and Esperanza Boulevard in Green Valley, Arizona, on Presidents Day, Feb. 17, 2025, concerned about executive orders and other decisions made in the first four weeks of the Trump Administration.
Community members partnered with professional dancers to master a dance routine at Dancing with the Green Valley Stars at the GVR West Center Auditorium on Feb. 5. Utah Ballroom Dance Company performed after the intermission as audience votes were tallied for the winner. Utah Ballroom Dance Company Executive Director Mark Lowes helped coordinate the event, and GVR CEO Scott Somers was one of the local stars who participated.
Thanks to the Rotary Club of Valle Verde-Green Valley and Rotary District 5500, Sopori Elementary School students now have a musical garden comprised of five colorful samba drums and two upright xylophones. Speeches were made and a ribbon cut Monday and Rotary members stood back and watched as the children rushed in for a chance to play the instruments.

Anza Trail School Principal Mike DeSouza DeS loves hip hop music. When he was a kid in Brooklyn, he and his friends egged each other on to see who could write the best rap lyrics or freestyle rap. They dreamed of becoming stars. One of his friends was Notorious B.I.G. DeSouza ended up spending more than 21 years in the U.S. Army before becoming an educator and school administrator. He raps for his students every Friday.
Amado marked the end of an era as demolition work began on Jan. 27 to bring down the Cow Palace restaurant, a 100-year-old history-packed icon sitting on the main drag through the small community. Owner Frank Bertolino said it would take a couple of weeks to get the building torn down and hauled off. The restaurant first opened in the 1920s as part of Kinsley Ranch. During the mid-20th century, the restaurant became a favorite for many movie stars and musicians passing through the area or looking to have a meal away from the paparazzi.
