I can't believe I was mistakenly taking the wrong medication for so long.

I spent 29 months of my life on those meds.

The actions I took, the mental struggles I endured, the people I unintentionally hurt, the anger, the anxiety that I couldn't control......

Now, after three weeks on new meds, I am finally starting to feel like my old self before Covid. When I was losing weight, enjoying DJing, waking up motivated, and surrounded by healthy friendships and relationships.

This roller coaster ride I've been on.....was terrible.

I just released an album that is truly unique, unlike anything you would ever hear in a club atmosphere. These songs hold a special place in my heart, and I am eager to share them with you. The first track, "Artificial Intelligence," delves into the widespread fascination with AI and how everyone seems to be engrossed in their phones, you know, all that jazz.

Now, let's talk about the second song, "Letter 2K." It was inspired by my re-reading of the classic book, "Message to Garcia." Moving on to the third song, it's all in the title: "Smoke Break." I’ve been battling allergies at work the last 3 weeks.
I don’t know what it is but I’m totally fine before I get to work then as soon as I’m there my eyes and nose get watery non stop. I start to be nauseous and tired.
Then when I get home I fall instantly to sleep cuz I’m exhausted and I’ll sleep literally 11-13 hours and then get up fine. Then I get to work and it starts all over again.

It’s definitely been effecting my work, running to the bathroom and all that.

What can I do?

I’ll be honest right now this s**t has me so depressed. I’m literally doing nothing but going to work and then sleeping. I slept 22 hours after work Saturday.

Indeed, I have decided to discontinue my career as a DJ, and I have various reasons for doing so. Many of these reasons revolve around the lack of musical diversity in the Grand Rapids area, as I mentioned in my previous post. Grand Rapids aspires to become a thriving hub for music, aiming to attract top-notch musicians. However, I fail to comprehend how this objective can be achieved when I enter clubs and hear the same repetitive music that was popular from 2012 to 2016 and Hip Hop from the late 90's into mid 2000's. The same remixes are played by the same DJs every week. It is disheartening. Can we not introduce fresh drops and new beat matches? Must every club play Diplo's remixes incessantly, must every afterparty sound like Illenium meets Excision?

Moreover, I find it perplexing that downtown events are advertised as parties and fun-filled occasions, but the DJs who perform there are the same DJ's mentioned above or have not been active in the industry for years. Example They adopt the name of a well-known New York bank as their new persona. On top of that, we have local promoters organizing shows featuring live artists. However, upon researching these artists, I discovered that none of them have released any music outside of SoundCloud. How can someone be the headliner of a show if they only play other artists' music or remixes? How about late night spots on the Westside that are literally a hangout for some awful music. I simply cannot comprehend this for my city.

With that being said, I do wish to inject a positive perspective into this post. If you are interested in learning how to create unique edits, produce your own music, and break away from playing the same monotonous remixes that everyone is familiar with, I am offering classes and guidance. I am here to assist you in making your music stand out from the rest. All you need to do is reach out and ask. Additionally, although I have stated that I will no longer DJ, I would still be open to the idea of doing a back-to-back session and teaching anyone how to beatmatch or not just play songs as if you/they were DJ Aux Cord.

🎵🎵 Announcement: Retirement from DJing 🎵

I am writing this announcement to inform you all about an important decision I have made. After a remarkable and eventful short journey filled with memorable nights, energetic dancefloors, and amazing experiences, I have decided to retire from DJing.

First and foremost, I would like to express my deepest gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey. I am truly thankful to the bar owners, bar managers, promoters, fellow DJs, and fans who have wholeheartedly supported me throughout my time as a DJ. Your unwavering support and enthusiasm have meant the world to me and have made my DJing career truly unforgettable.

Furthermore, I feel compelled to address the issue of gatekeeping and exclusivity within the music scene. It is unfortunate that some DJs engage in behaviors such as elitism or creating barriers that restrict others from accessing opportunities within the DJ community. It is crucial that we foster an inclusive and supportive environment where everyone can thrive and contribute their unique talents. Let us work together to create a space that welcomes and celebrates diversity. 🎧✨

As one chapter ends, another begins... 🌟

I am thrilled to shift my focus towards creating my own music and exploring new horizons. The next phase of my journey will revolve around producing my own tracks and embarking on an exciting adventure of touring and playing my own music at shows.

Words cannot describe how excited I am for this new chapter, and I sincerely hope that you will join me on this musical expedition. Together, we will create and share incredible moments on the dancefloor and in venues that will leave a lasting impact on us.
