Grand Junction, CO – At 0444 the Grand Junction Fire Department was toned for working residential structure fire at 859 Colorado Avenue with reports indicating the structure was “fully involved”. 1’s a pair arrived on scene and pulled a line for fire attack with additional companies arriving to assist. The bulk of the fire gutted the C/D Corner and affected additional units within the structure.

At 15:56 Station 21 was toned for a residential structure fire in the Applewood Trailer Park at 516 31 1/2 Road. RP reported a dryer on fire inside the residence. Engine 21 arrived on scene at 16:04 to a single story mobile home structure with light smoke showing, pulled an 1 3/4” preconnect to the front door for investigation/fire attack. Engine was able to remove the appliance from the house, knockdown any remaining fire and ventilate the structure.

I asked to help me create an image. After several weeks of collaboration and a few adjustments, he ended up with this. The new image for all my work. Should make a great sticker and patch.

*I am exceptionally impressed with his ability to match my request of having Mount Garfield and the Grand Mesa included.

Vail Fire and Emergency Services held their annual open house at Station 3 last Saturday in partnership with , , .s.forestservice , and Vail Public Safety Communications Center.

Grand Junction Fire Station 4 held their annual open house in honor of Fire Prevention Week on Wednesday. This year the department partnered with the American Red Cross, Colorado Division of Fire Prevention and Control, Intermountain Health, and Colorado Mesa University Tech to provide educational support and bike helmets for a safer community.

Saturday the had the annual IAFF Fallen Firefighter’s Memorial in Colorado Sorings hosted by Local 5. 308 names from Canada and the United States were added to the memorial site this year. Thousands of honor guard members, pipers, drummers, and ceremonial participants attended from departments across both countries.

Remember Fallen Brothers & Sisters.

Open House this weekend

This morning the Grand Junction Fire Department broke ground on the new Fire Station 7, the city’s 8th firehouse, and 3rd and final installment of the Public Safety Tax for new stations. The new station, located at 2351 H Road, will decrease response times for the western part of GJFD’s area and provide a closer resource to Lower Valley, area schools and the interstate.

At 15:22 Thornton (Primary) and North Metro were dispatched to a multi-family structure fire at 3351 E 120th Avenue for smoke showing from a lightning strike on the roof. Battalion 71 was first in and reported a medium two-story multi-family structure with a working attic fire, establishing 120th command and requested a second alarm with major incident tones. Half of the second alarm would be picked up before loss stop at 16:22.

1st: T74, E75, E76, E71, E77, M75, BC71, SAM 71, BC62, M63

2nd/MI: T62, M62, E63, E41, M71, WESTY BC1, SAM 1, E14, SAM 11, BC21, E27, CH72, CH74

6 agencies responded between both alarms.
