There's a possibility tonight that the solar storm rages on! So far the data is looking beautiful, comparable to the last two nights but not AS good.

HEY everyone! It's been a hot minute since I was on this page. I took a break for the last year to help with my pregnancy! I had a beautiful baby girl. Now I'm back to filming night skies again and I would love if you all followed this page and shared with your friends!

This page is located in NE North Dakota. I'm passionate about sharing the night sky, especially Aurora. In fact my business name is a play on Aurora and my last name, Byre (pronounced By-ree)

I would love nothing more than to teach people how to view and capture Aurora across all of the northern part of the USA. Especially for those in North Dakota and Minnesota!

Enjoy 🤣🤗 this is what Aurora looks like in real time! Normally I shoot in timelapses, but my new camera has the ability to just film naturally. I'm still working out the kinks and learning how to use it. My favorite part is the purple in the sky, it reminds me of heat waves 😍

Idk what possessed me to jump out of my car and dance around but I did and I loved it. Sometimes you just have to dance when the lights do. Anyways I hope you all enjoy this video

Absolutely beautiful work!!

"Revontulet"
Finnish word for "lit, aurora, fox fire"
Finnish folklore tells the tale of an Arctic fox that started fires by running on the snow - its brush-like tail spraying up the crystals so that sparks flew off into the sky.

My personal favorite story about the Northern Lights is illustrated here in a digital painting. I've been wanting to create artwork by painting onto photos, so couldn't think of a better way to kick that off than with Revontulet and the Mighty Mackinac Bridge! (Plus Michigan's Upper Peninsula has quite a Finnish influence!)

Green-Red-Green Aurora Sandwich

One of my favorite aurora shots of late, not because it was some grand display, but because of the composition! Finding a good composition is always my number one priority, whether it be for a reel, a photo, or a timelapse. In my opinion, it doesn't matter how strong the aurora was, if the composition in your photo sucks, then your photo... sucks! Anyone can get an aurora shot just pointing their camera at the sky and pressing the shutter, and while it will show what's going on, the artistic value won't be great. I don't consider myself some compositional genuis, but I do make conscious decisions when I decide what to include in the image. For example, in this shot, I made sure to align my camera with the two tall black spruce trees in the center of the frame. Furthermore, I made sure to angle the camera to include only the trees, since the foreground was distracting. In editing, I cranked the shadows down even though I could have opted for more detail in the trees. All these decisions led to a compelling photo that has elements of simplicity and positive/negative space.
