TUESDAY UPDATE: There is still some uncertainty regarding the exact placement of snowfall in southern New England. The Euro model still shows most of Rhode Island and parts of southeastern Massachusetts (not including Cape Cod) to get the most snowfall.

The GFS shows the opposite with many areas north of Rhode Island to get over 6 inches of snow. While I agree with the placement, I do not think this much snow will fall for such a widespread area. I do expect a chance of mixing along the coast and into MA, RI, and CT.

The snow will start in the morning for some areas and get more widespread into the afternoon. Many areas should get either rain or snow by 2pm on Tuesday. My snowfall totals will be released tomorrow night around 7pm.

First look at possible snow totals for next Tuesday's winter storm. The Euro model shows southern New England getting over a foot of snow and the GFS shows significantly different amounts, presenting a coastal rain scenario and more rain for southern New England. There is significant uncertainty on snow totals right now and updates will be posted whenever things become more apparent.

I'm watching both Sunday and Tuesday evenings for the likelihood of snow and rain in the region. Snowfall on Sunday night is expected to stay in the north and mountainous regions. Everywhere else to see rainfall.

Tuesday evening looks like a possible winter storm with most areas getting snowfall. Mixing to rainfall or freezing rain is possible in southern New England. I will not post snow totals now due to this being 6 days in advance, but I will watch this closely. Updates to be posted with snow total predictions if this holds up.

Looking ahead at the long-term, snow chances will likely increase for the first half of December. I don't see any potential for big snowstorms right now but chances for light snow accumulations are certainly possible for much of the region.

A quick round of rain will pass throught the area on Tuesday night. Potential for freezing rain and/or snow in northern New Hampshire and Maine. Scattered rain and snow showers are expected today for much of the region. A coating of snow is possible but not expecting much accumulation.

My take on tomorrow night's storm system will be that snow is anticipated the most in northern Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. I'm currently expecting 5-8 inches for those areas with over 8 inches possible in northern Maine.

Areas within the highlighted orange can anticipate snow then a change to rain. Don't expect much snow accumulation in this zone. The coastline will likely get all rainfall. Freezing rain is likely in parts of Vermont and western New Hampshire (mountains) and snowfall.

This won't be a major storm system but a start for the upcoming winter season

A storm system is expected to pass through on Saturday night into Sunday morning. Snow looks the most favorable in the mountains and northern Maine. Between 8-12 inches is possible in the highest elevations.

Freezing rain and sleet is possible for parts of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Other areas will get plain rain from this (southern New England).
