⚠️ SEVERE WEATHER TODAY: A slight risk of severe weather (2/5) has been issued for about the entire region (excluding southern Maine to Massachusetts coastline). The main threat is damaging winds up to 65 mph and hail up to quarter size.

Storms are already underway in Vermont and moving east. While non-severe right now this could change. Storms will develop and intensify in northern Maine and New Hampshire later this morning and early afternoon (all will move west to east).

I'm expecting severe thunderstorm watches later this morning (or early afternoon).

There is a marginal risk of severe weather tomorrow for the entire region. This is because a cold front will move through and with it will bring thunderstorms. Some storms may contain gusty winds and hail. There is currently no tornado risk.

Storms will be scattered tomorrow so some areas will get hit and some won't. It's likely that more areas will see rain than not.

The Climate Prediction Center issued there official July outlook back on Monday. Above average temperatures overall are likely across the region with slightly above normal precipitation.

New thunderstorm outlook:

Tomorrow: I have previously mentioned about this in previous posts. Hot and humid conditions will contribute to scattered thunderstorm activity. Isolated severe thunderstorms are possible with gusty winds as a main threat within storms.

Thursday: Heat combined with sticky dew points in the 60s may cause thunderstorms to develop in the region. While it's not likely, an isolated severe threat could develop if there is enough instability to support storms. I will update on this whenever necessary.

Beyond: A few storms may develop in Maine during the day on July 4th. There will likely not be a severe threat and any storms should dissipate by nighttime. The models indicate potential thunderstorm development from the 6th through the 9th each day and then the 11th.

There will likely be an update on this later this week.

THUNDERSTORMS EXPECTED ON TUESDAY: Hot and humid conditions will contribute to thunderstorm development across the region. There is a marginal risk for severe weather for most areas for damaging winds and isolated hail. An isolated tornado risk may occur as well.

Storms will likely start during the late morning and become more widespread and intensify in the afternoon. The Mid-Atlantic to southern New England areas will likely see the most significant storms.

An update on this will be released tomorrow if necessary.
