DEADLINE EXTENDED!!! Cooperative Living’s annual Youth Art Contest is designed to showcase the best work of the youngest members of our electric cooperatives. The theme for this year’s contest is “Oh, How We Grow!” The contest is open to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. First-place winners in each category will receive a $25 gift card. The “Best in Show” artist will receive a $100 gift card and have their art appear in Cooperative Living magazine, which will feature other winning art as well. The entry deadline has been extended to May 15.
Artwork should be configured vertically (portrait style) and on 8 1/2-x-11-inch sheet of white paper. Art can be color or black and white in any medium, including crayon, pen, acrylics, charcoal and pencil. Electric cooperatives were out in force during this year’s Legislative Day, as representatives of co-ops from across Virginia converged on the state capital to advocate for policies that will benefit their members. Cooperative directors, managers and key staffers worked the halls of the temporary General Assembly building in Richmond on Jan. 24.
