•Disappearance of Lars Mittank•
Lars Joachim Mittank is a German man who disappeared on July 8th 2014, near Varna Airport in Varna, Bulgaria. Mittank was vacationing at the Golden Sands resort, where he was supposedly involved in a fight, and was subsequently unable to fly home with his friends for health reasons. Mittank was documented acting strangely while alone in Bulgaria. He called home to his mother claiming that people were trying to kill him. On the day when he was supposed to fly home, Mittank went to the Varna Airport to consult with a doctor. He was later seen on airport security footage running out of the airport and towards an adjacent forest. He has never been seen since. The case has generated intense interest, and the frequency with which people viewed the footage of him fleeing the airport has led to him being named "the most famous missing person on YouTube."

Lars Mittank was born on February 9th 1986, in Berlin, Germany. He grew up in Itzehoe, Schleswig-Holstein, and lived there for his entire life. He worked at a power plant, had friends and a girlfriend. He visited his parents frequently. After his father suffered a stroke, he often helped at his parents' home after work. He was described as a normal person.

On June 30th 2014, 28-year-old Mittank traveled with five of his friends to Varna, Bulgaria. It was his first journey outside of Germany. The group vacationed at the Golden Sands, a seaside resort just outside of the city of Varna. "The week went by really fast," said Paul Rohmann, one of Mittank’s friends, in 2016 on German television. "We relaxed on the beach, swam in the pool, played football, went clubbing. He was relaxed. He was in a good mood." Another friend, Tim Schuldt, said that Mittank did not eat much, and that he would have only a small bowl of soup or a small salad at a time. His friends reported no additional abnormal behavior by Mittank until the final part of the trip.

Michael Madison is an American convicted serial killer and sex offender from East Cleveland, Ohio who is known to have committed the murders of at least three women over a nine-month period in 2012 and 2013.
On July 19th, 2013, police responded to reports of a foul odor, investigated a garage leased to Madison, and discovered a decomposing body lying inside. Two more bodies were found the following day – one in a backyard and the other in the basement of a vacant house. The bodies of the three women were found 100 yards (91 m) to 200 yards (180 m) apart and were each wrapped in plastic bags. After obtaining a search warrant, police entered Madison's apartment and found "further evidence of decomposition". After a brief standoff with police at his mother's house, Madison was taken into custody without incident.
The victims were identified as:
-Shetisha Sheeley, 28, who had been missing since September 2012.
-Angela Deskins, 38, a resident of Cleveland who was reported missing in June 2013.
-Shirellda Helen Terry, 18, was last seen July 10th, 2013, leaving a Cleveland Elementary School where she had a summer job.
On July 22nd, 2013, Madison was charged with three counts of aggravated murder. His bail was set at six million dollars, and he also waived his right to a preliminary hearing.
On October 31st, 2013, Madison's attorney David Grant entered a not guilty plea to an updated indictment that included sexually motivated aggravated murder charges; prosecutors had announced that they were now seeking the death penalty, a move his attorney had tried to prevent but had expected. The 14-count updated indictment includes two counts each of aggravated murder for each victim, three counts of kidnapping, three counts of gross abuse of a corpse, one count of rape, and one count of weapons possession by an ex-convict. Three children were killed in a house fire in New Orleans early Wednesday morning that was allegedly set by their father following an apparent domestic dispute, police said.
The father -- identified by police as Joseph Washington Sr., 29 -- was apprehended following a manhunt Wednesday and faces multiple charges including second-degree murder, according to New Orleans Deputy Superintendent Ryan Lubrano.
"We are here because of the tragic and senseless, horrific deaths of three young children last night in a domestic violence situation," New Orleans interim Police Chief Anne Kirkpatrick said at a press briefing Wednesday.
The children's mother called 911 at 11:55 p.m. Tuesday night to report that their father intended to burn down their house, New Orleans police said. A fire was reported at the address "moments later," police said.
The mother was not at the home when the fire started but was on her way there, according to police.
"He's going crazy," the mother said in a 911 call released by the Orleans Parish Communications District. "I'm at work. I'm trying to hurry up and go there right now."
The mother told the 911 operator that her ex-husband was screaming and "said he's about to burn the house" while begging for police to hurry.
First responders found the house engulfed in flames, police said. A 5-year-old girl and an 8-year-old boy were rescued from the home by firefighters, but were pronounced dead at a hospital about an hour later. The body of a 3-year-old boy was also recovered from the home and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
Washington was identified as the prime suspect in the homicides, police said. His car was found earlier Wednesday in Gretna, partially submerged in the Mississippi River, police said. He was later apprehended on the I-610 after allegedly attempting to flee by jumping off the overpass and taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries sustained in the fall, police said.
