Attention all members upcoming events around Christmas town

Please note: The town is NOT OPEN for visitors on November 30th. The lights will be on that evening exclusively for our participants, and all roads in and out of town will be closed off to everyone else. The lights officially open for everyone just two nights later on Monday, December 2nd.

Remember, the lights end on December 26th. The lights are all on timers, so they shut off each night on schedule. Parking in town and enjoying it on foot is the best way to experience it, but please be respectful of our businesses and residents. Porches, front yards, and driveways are private property. Please stay on sidewalks and do not walk in the middle of roads.

If you plan on driving through town to view the lights, please enter either from Wilkinson Blvd or I-85. You cannot access the town from any other entrance. Do NOT use your GPS directions as they will possibly send you to a closed road.

Do you know how to search your pup for ticks?

Follow these steps:
🐾 Move your fingertips through their coat at skin level, feeling for any bumps
🐾 Start at their head and neck (don't forget to check their mouth and ears!)
🐾 Continue checking down their front legs to their paws - make sure to check between their toes
🐾 Search their chest, belly, back, tail, and back legs
🐾 Remove their collar to search for any ticks hiding underneath

Good news people

Sunday, Sept. 29 Helene Recovery update:
-- Good news from Duke Energy, as they believe Mountain Island lake crested earlier this morning at 107.9 feet, and will slowly recede over the next few days.
-- As of 12:45 pm, the power outage number are down to 17.86% of customers without power (about 21,500 customers).
-- The last resident using the emergency shelter this morning was able to find temporary housing, so the shelter is now closed.
-- The Gaston County Family YMCA is offering showers, device charging and wi-fi use for any community members without power during normal operating hours at each of their four locations.
