David Kirby, author of More Than This, writes: “These poems are terrific—they’re quiet and then explosive, like friendly little grenades that go off in your hand and leave you awash in feeling and insight. The title of one is ‘The Trains Run Irregularly,’ and you say to yourself, boy, do t...

From the Editor:
Word gets around fast, so let me share this here. The final issue of the Aurorean will be Spring/Summer 2020 (coming out in JUNE). I've been publishing other people's poems (over 1,600 individual poets since 1995) in the Aurorean since I was 37, and I'm 62. This will free me up to work on my memoir-in-progress and to concentrate on the full-length books Encircle publishes (fiction and poetry). There will be loose ends to tie up and formal announcements will be made on our website (anyone whose subscription runs past Spring/Summer will receive the appropriate refund). I've said this from the beginning and it is still true: If I didn't have poets submitting to me, the Aurorean would be just a dream and a bunch of blank pages. Thanks to all our readers, contributors and subscribers for your support! I remain ever-grateful.

In this season of giving, please consider supporting the work of our journal. Become an Aurorean Angel. Or, make a general contribution to our poetry mission. https://encirclepub.com/aurorean/angels-program/ As we move into our 25th year of publishing, we are grateful.

Publishing a poetry journal is always a labor of love. Consider the cost of postage and printing, as well as the number of poets seeking publication vs. the number of poets who purchase a copy or subscribe to the journals in which their work is published. Consider the time involved in reading—and ...
