Yvonne Hayes Hinson, Gainesville City Commission Yvonne Hinson Yvonne Hinson-Rawls was born, raised and educated in Gainesville. Yvonne's passion for education did not end with retirement.

She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1965 and went on to receive her Bachelor's and Master's degree in Education from the University of Florida in 1971 and '72. Yvonne began her career teaching special
needs children and retired as an elementary principal of one of the highest achieving magnet schools in South Florida. Her work in rebuilding her school from the devastation of Hurricane Andre

w was featured in Good Housekeeping magazine. After retirement she moved back home to Gainesville and founded Childstart Learning Solutions, a tutorial company that served students in low achieving schools across three southern states, including Florida, and indeed the children of Alachua County Schools. Yvonne is an active member of Mt. Pleasant United Methodist Church, serving in several ministries and is also very busy working in the community.
