Join host Rob Browne on SEC Sidelines as we delve into two major developments in SEC sports: the unprecedented top-two basketball matchup between Auburn and Alabama, and the recent departure of Florida's defensive backs coach, Will Harris.

Key Highlights:

Historic Iron Bowl Basketball Matchup:

For the first time in Southeastern Conference history, the men's basketball teams of Auburn and Alabama are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively.

This historic game is set to take place on Saturday, February 15, 2025, in Tuscaloosa.

Both teams have seen a resurgence in basketball prominence, with key players like Johni Broome (Auburn) and Mark Sears (Alabama) returning to college play, influenced by extended draft evaluation periods and Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) opportunities.

Will Harris Departs Florida for Miami:

After just one season with the Florida Gators, defensive backs coach Will Harris is leaving to join the Miami Hurricanes as their safeties coach.

Harris's departure comes amid a series of coaching changes within the Florida program, raising questions about the stability and future direction under head coach Billy Napier.

🏀 Missouri's Commanding Victory: Mark Mitchell's career-high 25 points lead No. 21 Missouri to an 82-58 win over Oklahoma.

🏀 Arkansas Overcomes LSU: Zvonimir Ivisic scores 25 points, propelling the Razorbacks to a 70-58 victory over LSU.

🏀 Ole Miss Edges Out South Carolina: Malik Dia's crucial 3-pointer helps No. 19 Ole Miss clinch a 72-68 victory.

💰 NIL & Title IX Developments: The U.S. Department of Education has rescinded guidance issued during the final days of the Biden administration, which had stated that Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) compensation for student-athletes should be considered as "athletic financial assistance" and thus be distributed equitably between men's and women's programs under Title IX. The current administration argues that this guidance was overly burdensome and lacked legal justification.

🏈 NCAA Considers Women's Flag Football: The NCAA Committee on Women's Athletics recommends adding flag football to the Emerging Sports for Women program.

⚖️ Eligibility Controversies: Vanderbilt QB Diego Pavia and former junior college baseball player Alberto Osuna pursue legal action to extend their playing eligibility.

Special Guests:

Coach Matt Dean – Director of Athletics at Rhodes College.

Gary Harris – Sports Director at WVUA 23 in Alabama.

John Hartwell – Director of Athletics at the University of Louisiana Monroe.

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Eighty University of Florida football players were named to the 2024 Southeastern Conference Fall Academic Honor Roll, the league office announced on Thursday.

For the third consecutive year, the Gators have set a new conference record, topping the previous high of 75 honorees set in 2023 and 62 in 2022. A total of 137 Florida student-athletes earned recognition across men's and women's cross country, football, soccer and volleyball.

Gators Football has now reset the league record for players on Academic Honor Roll four times since 2020, when the Gators posted 55 honorees.
In total, 102 football players finished the fall semester with a GPA above a 3.0, and eight players finished with a 4.0. 43 Gators received the conference honor for at least the second time. The 3.37 team GPA in the fall set a fall semester team record.
Eleven Gators graduated in fall 2024, with two earning their Master's degree, and eight post-graduate players earning certificates.

Here are some photos from yesterday’s Florida vs. Georgia game. Fifth-year guard Alijah Martin and senior point guard Walter Clayton Jr. led the charge, each scoring 17 points, as five Florida players reached double figures. The fifth-ranked Gators dominated from start to finish, securing an impressive 89-59 victory in their Southeastern Conference matchup at the sold-out Exactech Arena/O'Connell Center.
