I love being on the squad because I enjoy discovering and trying new places. Supporting local businesses and being an Elite has allowed me to help make an impact in my community.
What does supporting local mean to you?
Supporting local businesses to me means making a positive difference in my community. Many local businesses are hidden gems and tend to go unnoticed. Supporting local and writing thoughtful reviews can immensely help a local business thrive.
What are your favorite businesses right now?
Pho Ever in Clovis has been my go-to place to eat. The service is always great. Tommy the owner is very kind, welcoming and treats us like family every time we visit. Not to mention how truly phenomenal and flavorful his pho broth is.
Rare Tea is my favorite place to get boba/ milk tea. Their drinks are so delicious and they are always consistent with the flavors in their drinks. The staff is so pleasant to talk to.
La Peau Spa is my go-to place for some R&R! They have the sweetest staff and they always do a superb job. I always come out feeling rejuvenated and stress-free.

Have you met the family behind La Jacka Mobile yet? Meet Miriam Martinez and her family!
La Jacka started as a pop up vendor of only jackfruit, back in 2013. The business idea was not clear yet, the family started testing the market by selling the jackfruit by the whole, making cups of jackfruit and jackfruit juice for farmers markets throughout the valley. La Jacka didn't start selling vegan food until 2015, when Miriam acquired her first food truck.
She had planned to only sale a few jackfruit products out the truck but she knew jackfruit could offer more than just a few products. Miriam started selling food of both kinds, meat and jackfruit out of the truck, she would give away her jackfruit tacos most of the time because people coming to the truck weren't ready for jackfruit vegan tacos, then. How things have changed!
Miriam created her jackfruit pastor & jackfruit chile verde in 2015. People began to show interest in the vegan options La Jacka offered. By 2018-2020, they were expanding their menu which now offers 20 all vegan Mexican dishes made with just jackfruit.
Currently the La Jacka family is working in two more projects to grow La Jacka & The Hot Spot Kitchen (Commissary Kitchen). Look out for them around town and be sure to show your support!

Meet Clinay Wills, the owner of & ! She has a great story –– so buckle in and read on!
"Seasoned Trends began with a self-conversation. I was in a place where I felt stuck. I had so many overdue dreams and to be honest I was feeling defeated," Clinay told us. After working her way up through the entertainment industry, she realized that the work didn't feel fulfilling.
"My down time at work consisted of heavy online shopping... I needed an outlet something that I could be passionate about and with online boutiques popping up everywhere I wanted to figure out a way to characterize the shopping experience. I set out to combine fashion and the years I had invested in entertainment to create Seasoned Trends. In February 2016 Seasoned Trends Studio Salon was born. A Premiere full service beauty Salon specializing in hair, makeup, nails, and clothing.
"The innovative space is also used as a community benefit for social good to offer free services and mentorship to young teens with events that empower young women to look and feel beautiful inside and out. Seasoned Trends with the motto “she is inspired,” is the catalyst for it all. My early career in entertainment gave me the opportunity to partner the best producers with the networks whose mandates fit their wheelhouse. I used that same strategy to partner the best beauty professionals with the clients that needed their specific services.
"I am a Faith Leader at New Kingdom Church of God in Christ and a graduate of California State University Northridge with a B.A. in Communication Studies and a minor in Business Marketing as well as a Non-Profit Administrator at the Civic Education Center. However, my biggest role is being a mom of two angels while wearing all these hats that job is the most fulfilling. As I continue to build Seasoned Trends during this season of change I have learned to try hard, do my best and never give up. The pandemic taught me to continue to follow my passion in storytelling and fashion. So my production hat is back on and I’m ready for it al!"

"My name is Pesith (Seth) Vann. I have a huge passion for the culinary field. I hosted plenty of gatherings which has been brought to my attention that I should do it as a service. There have been many trials and errors of selling to friends and family from eggrolls to Madeleines, then now, French macarons. I was told my macarons are THE best in town with each flavor being unique in their own ways.
"I was selling to friends and family for 2 years juggling my day job and coming home to bake macarons for orders. My Business partner Isaac Tjaja, pushed me to take this to the next level and tackle on night markets and private events. One day we were a vendor for a concert and the owner of Beyond The Wine saw us and just immediately appreciated my set up, how we carried ourselves, our branding. He offered us a space to sell within his wine lounge during the hours his lounge is closed.
"So now we operate as a cafe within Beyond the wine as a cafe in the morning 7 days a week. I’m constantly learning everyday as a new business owner from expanding our menu to learning how to create my own advertisements. We started off as just selling macarons to having French pastries, bistro sandwiches, charcuterie boxes, and espresso drinks. No matter what, this opportunity is a huge blessing and I’m excited to keep on pushing and moving forward."
