Border Patrol agents were safely able to seek cover before swiftly returning fire into Mexico.

The Dallas Cowboys are hiring offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer as their new head coach, Jerrry Jones tells ESPN.

Schottenheimer interviewed for the position earlier this week and will now be taking over Mike McCarthy. He spent over 10 years as an offensive coordinator before finally getting his first head coaching job.

Earlier today, Governor Greg Abbott sent letters to U.S. Congressional Leadership and the entire Texas Congressional Delegation requesting that Congress reimburse the state of Texas $11 billion dollars for money spent securing the border during the Biden-Harris administration.

Abbott stated that President Biden left the nation defenseless against unprecedented infiltration of criminals and terrorists, and as a result, Texas spent over $11.1 billion to secure the border.

Recent reports have indicated that Jerry Jones has spoken with Colorado HC Deion Sanders about the head coaching vacancy in Dallas.

This comes after earlier news today indicating that head coach Mike McCarthy would not be returning for a 6th season.

Deion Sanders spent 14 years in the NFL and played for the Dallas Cowboys from 1995-1999. During his time with the Cowboys, he helped lead them to a Superbowl in 1996, the last Superbowl that the Cowboys won.

Sanders is now going into his 3rd year as the head coach for the Colorado Buffaloes, who finished this past season 9-4.

Aditionally, Sanders' son, Shedeur Sanders, has declared for the NFL Draft and is expected to be a 1st-round pick. Many are speculating if the Cowboys could have a father-son duo at HC and QB in the coming years.

For now the 4th time in just 8 short years, the Texas grocery store has been named as the nation's finest for grocery shopping.

The ranking comes from Dunnhumby's Annual Retailer Preference Index (RPI), which surveyed more than 11,000 consumers and focused on price, promotion, and rewards. It included 72 of the largest U.S. grocery retailers

H-E-B specifically stood out due to its "better savings, quality, shopping experience, and product selection."

Earlier today, Governor Greg Abbott directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management (TDEM) and Texas A&M Forest Service to deploy firefighters, emergency management and medical personnel, fire engines, and equipment to assist with wildfire response efforts in California following a request from CAL FIRE through the California Office of Emergency Services.

TDEM, the Texas A&M Forest Service, Texas Intrastate Fire Mutual Aid System, and Texas Emergency Medical Task Force will deploy more than 135 firefighters, emergency management and medical personnel, as well as more than 45 fire engines, ambulances, command vehicles, and equipment to California as crews battle ongoing wildfires in the southern part of the state.

At a press conference this morning, President Trump stated that he wants to rename the Gulf of Mexico as the "Gulf of America."

The President elect stated the following about the name change earlier this morning at his residence in Mar-a-lago:

"We're going to be changing the name of the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America, which has a beautiful ring that covers a lot of territory, the Gulf of America.

"What a beautiful name. And it's appropriate. It's appropriate."

Do you like the name change? From here on out, when Texans visit the beach at Galveston or Corpus Christi, they'll no longer be gazing out at the Gulf of Mexico, but instead, the Gulf of America. Do you agree with President Trump? Does it have a ring to it?

On December 29th, 1845, the Republic of Texas was annexed into the United States and admitted to the Union as its 28th state.

The Republic of Texas declared independence from the Republic of Mexico on March 2, 1836. It applied for annexation to the United States the same year, but was rejected by the United States Secretary of State.

In 1843, U.S. President John Tyler, then unaligned with any political party, decided independently to pursue the annexation of Texas in a bid to gain a base of support for another four years in office.

Through secret negotiations with the Houston administration, Tyler secured a treaty of annexation in April 1844. When the documents were submitted to the U.S. Senate for ratification, the details of the terms of annexation became public and the question of acquiring Texas took center stage in the presidential election of 1844.

On March 1, 1845, President Tyler signed the annexation bill, and on March 3 (his last full day in office), he forwarded the House version to Texas, offering immediate annexation.

Texas ratified the agreement with popular approval from Texians. The bill was signed by President Polk on December 29, 1845, accepting Texas as the 28th state of the Union. Texas formally joined the union on February 19, 1846, prompting the Mexican–American War in April of that year.

Over the past few years, Elon Musk has relocated much of Space-X's operations to the lonestar state, and now he wants to create a city in South Texas to encompass the rocket launching company.

With their 50-21 victory over Austin Westlake last night, North Crowley High School became the first school from Fort Worth in 76-years to win the largest classification state championship, 6A division I.

North Crowley was led by Colorado commit Quentin Gibson, who accumulated 181 yards and 3 touchdowns in AT&T Stadium last night.

The North Crowley Panthers have multiple players going on to play Division I college football. To name a few, their star quarterback, Chris Jemerson Jr. will go on to play at North Texas, and offensive lineman Henry Fenuku will play in the SEC at Missouri.

The Panthers dominated the entire season with arguably one of the most difficult schedules in the nation. They defeated 7 different programs that have combined for 24 states championships.

On Thursday, Governor Greg Abbott unveiled a billboard campaign with gruesome realities that will be used to deter migrants from making the dangerous and expensive journey to the United States border.

Abbott announced yesterday at a press conference in Eagle Pass, that the state of Texas has strategically placed dozens of billboards across Mexico and Central America that will challenge migrants to reconsider making the dangerous journey to the Texas-Mexico border.

Watch as a freight train crashes into a semi truck, triggering a major accident and derailment that partially collapses a building nearby in Pecos, Texas. The train derailment happened today at around 5pm. One person is deceased, and four more are injured. The derailed train crashed into Chambers of Commerce building in Pecos. It is said that three of the cars had hazardous materials, but everything was contained.
