John Urness has been Principal Trumpet of the State of Mexico Symphony Orchestra (Orquesta Sinfónica del Estado de México [OSEM]) in Toluca, Mexico, since 1997, considered to be the finest orchestra in Mexico and one of the most important in all of Latin America.

Mr. Urness is Professor of Trumpet at the Panamerican University (Universidad Panamericana) in Mexico City and the Autonomous University of Mexico State (Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México [UAEM]) in Toluca.
