TWO YEARS
13, 10, 8, and 6: That’s how old they were when they said goodbye to their Papa. After four years of a very difficult battle with cancer, we stood at his bedside and watched him take his last breath as he entered into his promised eternity with the Lord. And although we had hope and relief in knowing that he was finally free, our hearts were shattered as we were forced to let him go.
Two years have passed since that day, and while on one hand it seems like a lifetime ago, the other hand holds so closely the memory of the joy that Arami was to us all.
I don’t think a day of Arami’s life was lived without a moment of laughter, whether it was him making us laugh or him making himself laugh — both of those things were a regular occurrence. And although he faced tremendous suffering, he was so very intentional about choosing to LIVE. Even when he was hurting, he chose to make the ordinary moments of life extraordinary, he chose joy. And man did his joy radiate, didn’t it?! Just like this video, he just knew how to live. This is something the boys and I talk about often, and it has left us with a charge to choose joy, even when times are tough.
Not a day goes by that Arami is not loved and missed. Not a day goes by that his name isn’t spoken in our household, whether it’s talking about the lessons he taught, the stories he told, the things he built, or the people he impacted. You should see how much the boys are becoming more and more like him, even after he’s gone. His legacy lives on, friends, and it sure is beautiful to see his sons carry that legacy on with honor.
The world got a whole lot darker the day we lost Arami, but boy does his memory, his legacy, his hopes, and his faith shine so brightly through his sons. He would be so proud of them, and so happy to see them thriving and trusting the Lord, just like he did.
Today we thank God for the moments, days, months, and years that we got to know and love him. We remember his big,
