State Sen. Tina Polsky, a Broward-Palm Beach county Democrat who is finishing eight years in the Florida Legislature, won't run for reelection.
Former state Sen. Lauren Book, who left office in 2024, is expected to file as a candidate to run for the Senate in the district Polsky is vacating. And state Rep. Dan Daley of Coral Springs, said he is “taking a serious look at the race."

After Florida redistricting, U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz running for reelection in newly crafted District 20 in Broward.
Says she made decision after community consultations. “I talked to so many people ahead of time and didn't just kind of try to bigfoot my way in here.”
Black candidates and some community activists argued district needs a Black representative, and pushed her to run elsewhere.
DWS: “It's my job to make sure that I can erase that doubt, that I can ease whatever concerns anyone might have.”

Luther Campbell, the rap artist, youth coach and podcaster turned Broward congressional candidate, castigates President Donald Trump as the “orange man” and a “narcissist” who violates the Constitution.
Campbell sees VP JD Vance as even worse, describing him as “an anti-Christ, in my opinion.”
And, he said, some elected officials are part of “the A***n nation,” adding that “they’ve shown their true colors, who they are.”
Interspersed with his assessments of Trump, Vance and other Republicans, Campbell touted himself as uniquely able to work across the political aisle if he makes it to Congress.

Most of the 200-plus political activists, elected officials and candidates stood, applauding and cheering, when U.S. Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz was introduced before speaking to a coalition of Broward Democratic clubs.
People at a few of the 25 tables, most of whom were Black, stayed in their seats.
The reaction is a stark illustration of a seismic political battle in Broward County and beyond over where Wasserman Schultz should run for reelection.

Speaker Daniel Perez says Florida House of Representatives would restore state funding seen as essential to keep the Tri-Rail commuter rail system operating in Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade counties. But, Perez cautioned, he isn’t sure the money will make it in the final state budget.
Senate Democratic Leader Lori Berman, who represents Palm Beach County, says the uncertainty raised by Perez is concerning. “I was thinking that we were in better shape, but he scared me a little today with what he said."
