I learned recently that an old friend has passed away. We hadn't spoken for awhile, but James Marvell and I had an amazing experience together back in 2010 when I arranged and produced a song idea of his while my home studio and I were located in Donna, Texas. He brought the idea to the studio as a simple acoustic guitar “rough”, and asked me to "add/arrange other instruments, and try to make it sound like an old-time Nashville recording".

Got it - he wanted "vintage Country”, and “First Country Outlaws Didn’t Get High” was the result of this collaboration. The song is about his very deep and personal contention that he and Buddy Good (both from Mercy - “Love Can Make You Happy”), together later as The Country Cavaleers, launched the Nashville “Country Outlaw” movement of the 1970's as they spoke out loudly against the recreational use of illegal substances.

I’m proud to have spent that very creative moment-in-time with James, and I will think of him often. The “First Country Outlaws” video can be heard on James’ YouTube channel here:

I assembled the new studio desk yesterday. It's a work in progress.

I'm very happy and relieved to report the desktop computer that I use for content creation is still working. I left it unused and disconnected ever since it got wet from the rain of Hurricane Ian (after the studio roof was ripped away).

Yesterday I finally had the courage to connect it all together and boot it up. It seems to be okay, so my digital storage and new (current) projects are intact. Yippeeee! Now for a place to continue my work.
