Texas Tower #4 was a USAF Early Warning Radar platform positioned 65 nautical miles east of Barnegat Inlet, New Jersey in 185 feet of water just 12 miles from the edge of the Continental Shelf. On the evening of January 15, 1961 during a fierce Northeasterly gale the Tower collapsed taking all onboard (28 men) with it.

There were two documentaries about Tower 4 and its collapse. The first was made in 2001 titled "DOOMED TOWER AT SEA", produced and directed by Our Town Films and has won numerous international awards. It first appeared on the History Channel as a 90-minute special presentation. (Actually 69 minutes without the commercials) and occasionally can still be seen there.

Doomed Tower at Sea has been seen around the world and has been called "Riveting" and "This was when the History Channel had great shows. Why don't they replay them?" and "I had no idea about this. I was on the edge of my seat watching it."

Well now you can see it. Released on Youtube on December 28, 2024. In less than a month it has already been viewed over 11,000 times. That's nearly 1,000 views/day! It is well worth an hour of your time. Check the link below.

=========================================

The second video Premiered Dec 8, 2024 and has had an almost unbelievable 1M views so far! Titled: "OFFSHORE NIGHTMARE-THE COLLAPSE OF TEXAS TOWER 4"
Produced by Brick Immortar's podcast "Lost at Sea" Series. It relies on official government documents, some recently released and other files, articles and interviews. It uses computer animation and graphics, that were unavailable just a few years ago, to bring to life this tragic event of the Cold War in an amazing fashion that puts you there on Tower 4 (nicknamed "Old Shakey" by those who served on it) before and during its final days.
It is a bit lengthy at 1 hour-24 minutes. But in my humble opinion, though it is unnerving and eye opening at times is well worth your time.

Those men, both military and civilian, who were onboard Tower 4 deserve to have their story of service and sacrifice be told.
See the (long) link below.
