Dominic Schmidt, a junior taking on his first lead role in a theater production, suggests guests prepare for a little bit of everything and a lot of applause when taking in Foley High School performances of “The Music Man” Oct. 30 through Nov. 2 at the school’s auditorium.

Audience members, Schmidt said, will witness a story displaying the themes of love, deceit, music and community, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. All the while, a live pit band consisting of FHS students and alums will fill the auditorium with tunes that will remain in viewers’ heads long after the final curtain.

He did this by tying anecdotes from his skydiving days into sermons, busting out a fiddle during worship and using puppets to make religious lessons entertaining for children.

Many longtime congregation members report that Wittwer brought an unapologetically authentic approach to his role, and his genuine enthusiasm for worship spurred growth and involvement at the church.
