Always a good weekend when I am doing something creative.

Saturday - attended a Workshop with the duo of (IG), Josh Grider and Drew Kennedy followed up by a concert Sunday at Lewisville Grand Theatre’s Black Box Theatre, one of my favorite venues.

Quote I shared with a friend and is very relevant to all. The moment we begin to take care of our own health & needs & get criticism and judgment is the place where boundaries are needed. People who need to set get angry at yours.

The tiara - Mike purchased for me as the Business Women Group I am part of is doing and I felt I needed a new tiara. “Marry someone who not only understands your need for a (tiara) but will buy in or invest in your (tiara).” is my best advice at the moment.

I got a lot done.

Spent two weeks leisurely with family. Hit the ground running for 2023 with scheduled classes with some amazing creatives - like bookbinding at Bookforge.

Our family rescued a kitten who snuck into our garage on 12/20 right before a freeze in our area. Vet estimate on age puts her birthday as MY birthday on 10/12. 🙂 Suki (“Beloved”) is super sweet and in training to be a .

Mike and I are doing a group marriage class and doing the soul work & relationship work to get us to our next marker moment anniversary, through the next 3 1/2 years and into our “empty nest” stage. I highly recommend every couple do marriage refreshers and set some goals for your marriage.

I am trying to NOT be on social media.

I check in on family, friends, creative co-workers and that is about it.

I’m curious about a trend of folks doing all sorts of creative things outside of social media.

I like that approach to life.

Visited Parr Park Rock Art Trail which has a Guinness World Record and got to see the Glory Window in person at Thanksgiving Square in Downtown Dallas.

My dad and brother worked on old cars. Specifically, Chevelles. My brother’s current restore is a 69 Chevelle. I laughed to see this and imagined back in the day someone becoming a “family man” and going from a SS to a station wagon.

No wonder Dodge puts Hemis in their minivans. 😉

The Boy (after YEARS of being told to guard his future security clearance and not post his name or image on social media I still can’t bring myself to reveal his name 🙂) is the one who found Bruce the Moose and Doe the Deer.

He is working for an ice cream party (his terms/preferred reward).

I did let my youngest know that Bruce & Doe are in play and being hid.

Today, Bruce & Doe are in a converted old church door which is now a corner bookcase by our front door.

There is also a knife on that shelf. 😂 Do you see it? This almost got me in trouble with airport security once so I stopped carrying it with me. My dad gave me that knife.

The Secret Garden is my favorite book for 5-7 year olds. I also re-read every year and additionally watch the BEST version in my opinion which is the 1987 Hallmark Hall of Fame adaption. Not quite the same as the book but retains my favorite line:

“Might I have a bit of earth?…To plant seeds in--to make things grow--to see them come alive?”

To which the response is:

You can have as much earth as you want," he said….When you see a bit of earth you want," with something like a smile, "take it, child, and make it come alive."

"May I take it from anywhere--if it's not wanted?"

"Anywhere.”

This was actually an amusing moment but left it’s mark. At a leadership conference - my first - stepping out as a woman leading a ministry for moms, sitting literally at a front row table to the side…at New Life…there was a special luncheon for the women.

Honoring them.

We were given copies of Brady Boyd’s book as a thank you.

Some of us had the “mistakes” which the printer/publisher threw in for free as the books had been bound upside down.

I learned SO much in that moment and keep this book on my shelf simply because of what it is.

Sometimes, we aren’t given the honor or the respect. Men in our lives may not see anything wrong with “mistakes” but even in the mistakes God whispers for us to speak and to prophesy.

For me, I am called, not by mistake but by design to see errors, and turn anywhere I get the opportunity to lead in life upside down and right wrongs and be and bring excellence. Not always compliments, as situations are very complicated at times and require corrections, but complements or the completing of the work.

Find them in my house during the holidays and they are worth $. 😁

I often hide them literally in plain sight to see if my family sees what I see.

Santa on the road.

I made it another week without rescuing, adopting, or buying another dog. This is a win. Although, there is something incredibly therapeutic about fuzzy, cuddly puppies and kittens. I believe my mood at any time could instantly be improved by being in a room with a bunch of Siberian Husky, Aussie, or German Shepherd puppies. Augustus attempts to convince me that he is enough.

The 52 foot drop of #BlackwaterFalls is gorgeous in any season but should be spectacular in about a week or two as Fall colors come to Canaan Valley. #FamilyTripsAndTravels

A squirrel chittering in the Pin Oak tree in my backyard this morning. Enjoying an acorn. 🙂
