Why a show called In the Pickle Barrel?

After a few years of withdrawal from the political arena, I became dissatisfied with being a member of the “Silent Majority” in American politics. I decided it was time to speak up and be heard; it was time to get past my anger and disappointment with the system. I recognised “We the people...” are the ones who must make the changes take place.

After being advised and encouraged to get back into politics. I created In The Pickle Barrel for just that purpose.

Why “In the Pickle Barrel”? I had a great-uncle, William (Bill) Smith, who would tell me ‘Boy, you’re in the pickle barrel’ (meaning I was in deep trouble).

The United States of America is ‘In The Pickle Barrel’! I figured the name fit. I thought perhaps by talking and working together we could find some ways to pull us out of the proverbial pickle barrel.

Warning! I have a mind of my own and am more than ready to share my thoughts and opinions. But I also want to hear your thoughts and opinions. I may not like what you have to say, but I’ll defend your First Amendment right to say it. I promise to listen to you with an open mind. I ask you to respect what our guests and fellow listeners as they share their beliefs.

I am a proud South Carolinian (via the Lone Star State) who believes the United States Constitution needs to be protected and defended. I believe Americans need to work together.

I am very eager to see the days when Americans meet between the political aisles to the benefit of “WE THE PEOPLE”.

I enjoy traveling with my wonderful wife (Susan), visiting with our children and grandchildren, and being an active member my community. You just never know what I’ll be up to next, or where in the United States/World I will show up.

As host of “In The Pickle Barrel”, I believe in the 1st Amendment right of free speech and more importantly free thought. As a concerned American your voice should be heard... whether you are a progressive or a conservative and regardless which political party your views most align with during these historic times. So you can let your fellow Americans know where you stand on the important issues of the day and what you’re most concerned about.

I want to know what changes you think will lead to the solutions that will improve the lives of the greatest number of our fellow Americans? Do you care more about national security, or immigration? Do you want more jobs, or more fair trade? Is Congress listening to “We The People”, or are they ignoring those who elected them? I want you to come and share your ideas, your wishes and your comments with others throughout America as we explore the American psyche of these historic times.
