A little bit about me

Christine Kanerva joined the 9&10 News team in May 2019 as the morning reporter for Michigan This Morning.

She grew up in Pinckney, a small town in southeast Michigan, and graduated in 2014 from Pinckney New Tech High School. She graduated with the “Director’s Award” for her substantial involvement in the community through media.

Christine went on to Michigan State University, where she graduated with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and political science, with a minor in broadcast journalism. She’s earned multiple student awards from the Michigan Association of Broadcasters, Society of Professional Journalists and two student Emmys from The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.

When Christine is not at work, she likes watching movies and eating popcorn. She also loves being a part of the community. In Pinckney, she was the high school dance coach for four years. Christine enjoys working with young athletes as they compete to reach a common goal.
