⚠️ HEAVY RAIN: A Flood Watch is in effect for NYC from 2pm Tuesday into Wednesday. Multiple rounds of showers and storms are expected, and localized flooding is possible. There is still some uncertainty as to exactly where the band of heaviest rain will set up - this will determine whether the flooding in NYC is significant or not.

Regardless, plan for the showers and storms that become more widespread on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning. Now is a good time to double check your flood plan, review your local flood zones, and make sure your phone has emergency alerts enabled - just in case!

Thank you. Our community has grown a lot over the past year, and we didn’t start really posting on Instagram until November of 2022. It is not lost on me just how cool this is. 🎉 Our long national nightmare is over. Central Park reported 0.4” of snowfall this morning, the first measurable snowfall of the winter season in NYC. This is the latest first measurable snowfall in a winter season on record (previously 1/29/73). It breaks a streak of 326 consecutive days without measurable snowfall.

01/31/2023

January 2023 will go down as the warmest in NYC since records began in 1869. There was zero measurable snowfall. All 31 days featured above-average temperatures.

We did it Patrick, we saved the city! With zero measurable snowfall today, NYC will break a long-standing record for the latest first measurable snowfall in a winter season. The previous record was January 29th, 1973.

The temperature has been above average in NYC every single day for the last 31 days. Tomorrow, we will break the previous record streak of above average days which was originally set in 2007. And there’s no snow, either. How exciting!

A coastal storm will impact the area from tonight (Tuesday) into Wednesday morning. Periods of cold, heavy rain are expected in the city. It’s not gonna be pretty!

Meanwhile, winter weather is expected in the higher elevations of Northern NJ and Southeast NY. Snow and a wintry mix is expected through Wednesday morning and could lead to light accumulations. Travel carefully!
