One of our older ducks finally hatched a baby .
For the last 1.5 weeks we have had no contact and allowed her to do everything on her own other then providing shelter and food/water.

Sam has a twin sister Sue they both use to follow pip around everywhere .
They are loud very vocal and want to be left alone .
Sam decided to lay on eggs and Sue was sad her sister wasn’t with her daily anymore .
Won’t be long and they will be back by each others side with a new addition .

Tonight I asked Gabe to hold Sam and her baby while I cleaned there kennel .
She normally would scream and throw a fit .
Nope as long as her baby was in her view she was calm.
She tucked into Gabe’s beard and enjoyed being held with her baby while I cleaned there mess up. Not sure how 1 adult 1 baby duck made the mess they did but wow it was crazy .

Just look at Sam and her mini with Gabe it is the sweetest thing ever .

Last video is Eva and Rodney calling out for each other. She was down in the big run .
So so sweet listening to Rodney call for her 😍

3 am checking on Rodney Dangergoose the Goose that sustained major Injuries during the Airport Fire . I put him in the pool for therapy and to keep him clean so he doesn’t get any skin breakdowns .
I’m staying outside now till 3/4 am every night to care for everyone then sleeping for a few hours and back up again .

I took in his friends as well to give time to Amanda to get settled back in and get all her Horses and animal back to the Ranch .
Well Eva Gosling supposedly was Ryan’s mate the White Goose I had here .
However when she purchased two Chinese geese for Ryan to have mates one of them ended up being a male (Rodney) the now injured goose
Eva and Rodney were babies together . They grew up together so when they both came here I noticed all her bad ways with other including Ryan were not Done at all to Rodney .
She is a very needy bossy female goose typical wanting to be in charge .

So we made her an enclosure in our main run away from all our birds .
After the other guys went home Eva was alone .
She could lay at the fence and be right beside our birds just not bully them . She however didn’t like it one bit and wanted her humans right away . We made the mistake on taking her for daily walks . So that’s all she wanted every minute of the day .

I brought her upstairs to my backyard where I have Rodney very close to make sure he survives. So she had her friend and would feel better .
We spend a lot of time with her because she demands it .
Suddenly she is my sidekick and refuses to leave my side and even tells pip to move along .
So I had to sn**ch pip up and cuddle with her for a hour in bed so she didn’t feel left out because she was visibly angry 😂.

Anyway Eva is eating so well now and copies my chickens perching on everything . This has been a lot of Stress on these birds being Evacutaed thrown into cages and moved all around . I’m glad she is eating because she didn’t have much appetite. Now she is eating a 1/2 large bowl of my special fermented grain mix I do for the birds . None of them turn it down ever .
She is trying her hardest to take over as the leader of the pack and steal all the humans for herself .
Whoever is around she demands them to take her for walks and hang it with her . This little monster is below . I hope we can get Rodney up walking so he can be back with his best friend soon .

**Update on Rodney Dangergoose **

He remains quite uncomfortable, but we are addressing his needs. I rolled a towel into a loop to support his body in a more natural position. Due to his injury, he is unable to lie down properly, so I frequently adjust his position as he tends to rest on his good leg all day which I’m sure isn’t comfortable . Last night, I bathed him once more which helps stimulate natural oils and as I’m drying him it helps keep his waterproofing. Without this treatment, his feathers would retain moisture, making it difficult for him to maintain his body heat. I have positioned a heat lamp above him, equipped with a temperature gauge and thermostat. The towel loop had a small opening that allowed him to tuck his bill in, which is typically how they keep warm by tucking their heads into their wings. Since he cannot do that at the moment, it was heartening to see him nestle into the towel. He then closed his eyes and appeared to be the most comfortable I have observed him since his arrival. I going to get him a thin horseshoe pillow to help him remain upright and relieve pressure on his good leg allowing both legs to stretch and not force his body over into his normal position that would cause more discomfort on the injured leg/wing area. He takes loves his evening baths when the others are settled for the night It’s just me and him a few bantams who fight me until the end me to go to bed . He cools down quickly, so I dry him off and assist him in preening, mimicking his natural behavior of removing excess water, while the heat lamp takes care of the rest. Watching him fall asleep so fast was pretty satisfying.

I pray he makes a full recovery.
My pet duck aka Pip . Has shown a lot of interest in him. She doesn’t like anyone but us and her dogs .
She spends the day hanging out with our Belgian Malinios who she belives his one of her best friends .

I noticed her laying near him almost like she was comforting him.
I then know my duck so she was like ok let’s see if he is mean .
Because this man has a giant igloo with a whole truck load of hay I can play in and make a nest .

Well after a few days when I walked on the back deck to grab food .
I caught her inside with him .
I couldn’t let her stay since we are in the quarantine timeline .
He has a see thru grate so he can still see and not be lonely .
When I’m around I open it to give him some attention and changing fresh water every few hours .
Pip took her chance quick . Never ever would I think she would chance it .
So I believe These two could be friends .
At his former home he had 2 other geese but those two were mated so he was a third wheel .
So I think it would be pretty cool these two as friends . When pip takes walks everyone of our male ducks will get out of her way (she will think that’s right boys move ) not realizing it’s a large goose behind her scaring them away 😂
So let’s stay positive Rodney recovers and makes great new friends .

Rodney evacuated from the Ortega 74 area very close to the Airport fire that was right at his property . He sustained major upper leg joint injury . He’s with us rehabbing and getting some love .

Transport is in motion shortly these guys will be here . Already got a section set up , food and water for them . And they will be safe and loved for however long needs be .

So many animals have been injured or killed in these fires . This is the least I can do .
I get accidents happen but for the arsonist I hope you feel some type of guilt for this .
Far many are arson .

Those who don’t live in Ca do not understand if you had the same temps , low humidity and lack of rain during the summer this would happen anywhere .

Most aren’t forest burning .
This is sage brush many things green from winter rain . Once summer and hot temps come and we have low humidity it takes very little for a forest to start .

I grew up n the mountains on the east coast .
If we would have had the same low humidity I can’t even imagine the fires we would have.

A spark off heavy machinery cause the that’s it and before you know the fire has spread to almost 25,000 acres .

One thing to also remember this isn’t flat land . So much of California is on hills and a major incline .
So it’s not the normal terrain many are use to .
Some of these areas they can’t get to . And rely on air support .

But when multiple fires are going at once there are major needs for help .

Hi everyone
Just on to ask a quick favor .
Someone I have followed for years has there acct hacked and lost there 250,000 + followers .
What she does for other people means a lot to me personally having lost children and losing olivia in 2018 .

She’s tried to get her account back and they already changed the name .
She’s starting fresh on Facebook so give her a follow and help rebuild her acct .

And anyone who has lost a loved one and looked into wanting a keepsake . This is the person to go to .
I have looked at so many places and have been saddened by the cost .
But not with her there prices are amazing . I just don’t have it in me to touch Olivia’s ashes and hair yet . In time I will get a ring made that I have saved I want .

Any way it bothers me she lost her page so if you followed her before follow again please .

Pip was hanging out with us last night in bed and a scene came on tv with explosion sound . Her face and eyes took me out . It didn’t scare her at all it’s just this ducks facial expressions are everything . We have had Pip almost 3 years . She was our first duck hatchling from the rescues . Peeky belong to a girl going to college and had to rehome him.
He is nosy into everything I see where pip got it from . And speedy is pushy and loud but so sweet . Again pip has her parents personality traits .

Second photo nick gave pip a hat 😂. She lets him do whatever he wants to her it’s funny .

Kona our newest rescue was saved from living in a higher terrian hills with a lot of brush typical ca landscape in rural and suburban areas . Where mountain lions and coyotes roam freely .
During the night she would tuck in under large boulder that were almost cave like and hide .
After weeks of coming near a homeowner n the area . She trusted them to make contact .
I read Kona story and knew she was for us . Losing Katy months ago was so heartbreaking and still is . That was Olivia’s dog who took to olivia the moment we got her .
After olivia passed away Katy spent her days guarding the livestock and hoomans . And becoming zues friend once we rescued him .

But nothing says love like Kona to zues .
The cuddling the do is human like .

We walk on there in front of there fans (obsessed with ) and cuddling on Zues bed .

One of Jill’s babies being introduced to a really large worm😂. The bantam baby hung her head over the bowl for hours watching this worm . She even fell asleep multiple times . When there mom Jill seen it she’s showed them how it’s done and gulped it down . So and neat watching there reactions and precautions to new things .

Jill and her eggettes are now full blown stalkers . She taught them well and fast . At just 4 weeks old these bantams charge me when they see me . Follow me from the deck to the yard down the stairs and back to the deck .
They perch anywhere on the deck (eyes always watching ) .
Jill lets out this horrible cry it makes me sad and annoyed at the same time because they are fed well fed .
Yet she just wants food out 24/7 they like 30 little piles of food going at all times . These guys are feet from the back door 👀

My little crowing , no wondering he tried to hump my hand the other day 🤣. He is still my little baby sweet as can be . He is putting all he has into the crow literally almost falling over . I thought it was one of the baby crested chickens . Nope after weeks of hearing it I found the culprit .

Puff and her Guinea hen friend . Funny how he chose puff to hang with . I have her seen the full 18 babies out to the yard . They were raised together but normally they stick with there own kind . They love puff as much as we do.
There also starting to make all there sounds. These guys

Fact- guineas are great at keeping ticks off your property they can eat hundreds in a single day .

We tried everything for our dogs and nothing kept the ticks away .
Our land is prone to them .
Since our older guniea hens started roaming the full property we rarely see a tick anymore .

These guys are now flying , running across our roofs.
All while still taking time to stalk me 😍.

knows she has to stay on her pads . I trained her as a baby since she was indoors . What’s funny is I went amd laid down a little early because my headaches are getting more frequent and severe again like 3.5 months ago when my brain bleeds started . So I go into Olivia’s room where I find peace. I jumped in her bed covered up and looked back like crap I didn’t shut the door .
If you don’t shut the door you will get visitors and possibly many of them . I keep pads around because you never know when pip will show up .

I have a cute wooden owl stool someone gave me and I have it at the side of the bed to help short legged sissy jump up .
Well pip normally flies if she comes in . But nope she jumped on the stool and was peaking at me seeing if I was going to tell her no . She jumped up harassed me for a few then laid down .

I listen to people say ducks are dumb. She’s laying in this Postion because she knows if Gabe walks in she’s in trouble for being in the bed .
And he will tell her it’s time for bed .
All he has to say is bed time pip and she runs away from him .
If we are outside and I need to go somewhere on the property I say Pip let’s go and she hauls butt to catch up and comes right away .

I need a GoPro to catch what this creature does. I have many ducks many rescued and many are super smart and know how to manipulate you to get extra food .

More of Pip to come I have to start catching the sheniagans she does .
She will also do anything for a natures sweet cherry tomatoes . They already found pip on twitter and sent her coupons for a dozen free 24 ounce packs 😂. We used them in a week .

Oh the sounds of hungry little babies gulping down there Mazuri . Especially because it floats on water absorbing water so your ducks are also getting hydrated in the process by far the best food . Not only does it meet all the ducks needs thruout different stages of life . You don’t have any waste . Most crumbles and pellets breakdown and end up 1. On the ground wasted to some extent 2. When ducks eat they filter so they will rise a bite of food then go straight to a water bowl . At the end of the day when u dump there water inches of wet feed is in the bottom of the bucket . Many don’t realize the waste that’s happening . Now that I have used it full time for 3 years I wouldn’t use anything else . We also feed Elvis our pig mazuri and he loves it .
