The community held its breath and hoped for a miracle when Molly Thomas almost lost her life in a horrific accident. The talented musician (and potter and jewelry maker) has worked hard to regain her large presence in the music scene and has just announced she has a new album ready for release.

On August 1, 2023, local musician Molly Thomas was on her way to Pensacola with her dog in tow, when tragedy struck. Like many of you, we've long enjoyed the music of Evans Davis of The Leavin Brothers. We loved learning more about another side of Evans that involves his longtime love of working with wood, both as a skilled carpenter and a creative artist.

A small shop along a shady lane off Twin Beech Road is where Evans Davis is happy to spend most of his time. Other than playing music, there’s not much he’d rather be doing than finding new uses for old wood.

There are many ways to enjoy fresh oysters from the gulf. One of favorites is probably the richest, the coveted classic known as Oysters Rockefeller. You can make them at home with this recipe courtesy of the top chef at the amazing Atlas Oyster House.

Created at Antoine's Restaurant in New Orleans in the late 19th century, Oysters Rockefeller was named after the Rockefeller family due to the richness of its sauce and proved to be an instant classic, quickly finding its way onto menus and at lavish parties across the country.

Jim Trainer of Alabama Iron Works has used the skills he learned in shipbuilding to leave his mark on the Eastern Shore. You've no doubt seen some of the many fire pits and signs he's created, and so much more.

Jim Trainer seems to have hit his stride in terms of finding his creative side. His business, called Alabama Iron Works handles some big, rugged jobs and others that require a much more artistic sensibility.

We love going to Page & Palette for books and coffee, but we also get our fix for live music there. The Book Cellar at Page & Palette, their adjacent event space, regularly features much of the area's musical talent.
