Head Knod Artist Spotlight: Meg McRee

A few weeks ago, I had the absolute pleasure of catching Meg opening for Marcus King, and wow—what an unforgettable performance. From the moment she started, her music drew me in, and I’ve been hooked ever since. She’s become a daily listen, and honestly, I can’t recommend her enough.

Meg’s songwriting is nothing short of powerful—it’s raw, heartfelt, and deeply resonant. Add to that one of the most beautiful voices you’ll ever hear, and you’ve got an artist who stands out in every sense of the word. Seeing her perform live was a true privilege, and it’s clear she has a story to tell.

Jade Cicada is one of the many artists who helped inspire the name “Head Knod.” Along with a select group of sound engineers on the circuit, Jade continues to craft unique sound designs that sit perfectly between downtempo and headbanging. While I’ve never been a headbanger and never will be, this EP genuinely embodies the essence of the “Head Knod” vibe. There’s nothing quite like looking out into the crowd and seeing fellow music lovers immersed in the sound bath, each giving a visual nod in rhythm with the music.

Jade Cicada’s live performances, especially his curated events, are an absolute treasure to witness. The sound rigs he showcases are among the best I’ve ever experienced.

What I love most about these artists is their minimalist approach—no words on the mic, not even for set transitions. Just pure music, head nods all night, and the occasional howl from the crowd. It’s an all-around incredible concert experience.
